Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NCsoft Gifts Every Employee a Nintendo Switch and a Copy of Zelda BotW

NCsoft CEO Kim Taek-Jin just announced to gift all its employees a Nintendo Switch console and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. When talked to Korean media Gamefocus about this unexpected decision, Kim said that he enjoyed Breath of the Wild and shared his experience inside the company with the employees.

Kim Taek-Jin has been actively trying the latest games and gaming hardware for years and as console gaming market keeps growing, he wants NCsoft to enter that market. Buying Nintendo Switch and games for the employees is a good yet expensive way to get the employees involved in console gaming.

Kim Taek-Jin

NCsoft attempted to enter console market several years ago by setting up a team, trying to port Blade & Soul for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Apparently Kim Taek-Jin hasn't given up.

However, the decision to purchase the console and game for every employee was so sudden and NCsoft can't purchase more than 3,000 Switch consoles in a short time. What's more, Switch hasn't officially launched in South Korea, and it will take a while before every NCsoft employee can delve into the world of Breath of the Wild.

Pretty nice move, by the boss.

He was probably like "You see that epic game kids? Now you have 8 working hours to get familiar with it and make me one."

That's a lot of Switch units.

Well, nice to see he's optimistic about the console, and hopefully they can make their move in the market and get some games on the Switch!

Yea, doing quick math he is spending over $1,000,000 USD if it was only 3,000.

$60 x 3000 = 180,000

$300 x 3000 = 900,000

For a grand total of 1,080,000

That is not taking into account any taxes or exchange rates or anything.

But I enjoyed Guild Wars 2. Be cool if someone figured out how to make a good MMO for a console. A console like Switch woudl be a good fit imo. Imagine being able to play your precious MMO wherever/whenever.

Edit: Google says 3,100 employees. So 100 employees getting teh shaft and have to wait, lol.
