Forums - Gaming Discussion - More of Digital Foundry's unprofessionality exposed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWdvP3yUQ_Y

So Digital Foundry strikes back again and i have to poin out their huge flaws in this one. This time they are complaining about the European/PAL version of the PS2 to PS4 version of Code Veronica, which is the original PAL version of the PS2 version. If you watch the video you can see that the PS4 European release is running in 25fps as it is the PAL version from the original 50Hz release, while the US PS4 versions runs at 30fps because of the 60Hz of original PS2 release.

They are bashing the European PS4 version and recommend you to get the US version from the US PSstore. But here is the problem they completly ignored.

Capcom chose the original 50Hz PAL version because of the German, French, Spanish and other translations of the original PAL release. The US version probably doesnt have these text options in the game.

Making the PAL version 60hz would give tons of sync issues in cutscenes etc. patching the other languages in the US version would be too much work.

Its unbelievable how these so called ''professionals'' completley ignored this fact. This video was a total waste of time to watch, it didnt also help other people to clarify which language option the US version has (maybe French for Quebec, Spanish for Latin America?). They are much more concered about counting frames..

You haven't exposed anything. 25fps is not okay.

Still bitter about DF exposing FFXV's failure to hit 60fps on PS4 Pro, huh?

Nothing to see here folks.

"exposed"

Sounds more like you are salty about another video they made more so than anything lul

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Lol thats not being exposed at all they are making a video about the technology behind the game they are advising people on a technological point and if you are viewing this english video your english is proberbly good.

It would obviously have been NICE if they mentioned it but its not something they NEED to cover and its not something you would expect them to definitely include if you watch one of their video's

Its good coverage and 25FPS is pure horror in any language

The only thing exposed here is your desperate need for people to dislike DF lol

I take it they posted an inconvenient video or two that criticized some of your favorite games and you don't appreciate the honesty?

Digital Foundry is a great channel full of competent people who enjoy and test games across all systems, no need to libel it.

DF's videos are clearly targeted to an English speaking/understanding audience. If you understand their recommendation in the video, you should also have no problems understanding the English version of Veronica X.

It's not point about language options but about performance.

I see OP's avatar and then see this thread. I think we've seen all there needs to be seen here.

Pretty much.

No reason why the game isn't 60fps across all regions, all versions, all languages. If there is an engine limitation, 30fps would also be fine. We *know* the game is capable of running at that.

Heck. It's resolution is also crap. 1280x960. They could have gone to 1440x1080 if they wanted to retain a 4:3 aspect ratio, that would also allow people to take full advantage of their HDTV's.

The game is being emulated on the Playstation 4. The PC has done a better job at emulating the game with improvements in all aspects, so there is no excuses.

Their job is to tell you about the technical aspects of the games performance.

I agree they should mention the language issue but it's also not an example of their unprofessional behaviour I'm afraid.

I feel like in 2017 there is a small group of people who have a strong desire for alternative news sources that don't use empirical evidence.
I assume the Op is one of those people.
It's why Flat Earth, No Climate change, Chemtrails, Vaccines are poison, 9/11 is an inside job, man didn't land on the moon etc' have gained relevancy in some circles, it's batshit crazy, but people legitimately and strongly believe those conspiracy theories, despite the lack of empirical evidence.
