Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rime – Switch vs PS4 Picture comparison

Nintendo showed off the first footage of Rime on Switch last week during a special indies episode of Nyannyan Neko Mario Time. Using gameplay from that video as well as a trailer from January, one fan put together a few rough comparisons for the Switch and PS4 editions. See how the two versions stack up below.

Is it just me, or does the Switch version looks more colorful(and thus more beautiful)?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Whoever took those pictures washed out all the colour on the PS4 version.

I can't tell if it's that ...or just the time of day... But their doesn't seem to be a huge difference overall.

It definitely has much stronger colours than the PS4 screenshots. I'm not sure if the games are actually that different though, or if it's just the quality of the pictures.

I'm pretty sure that's how it normally looks on PS4, so I don't know if it's the time of day or the developers increased the saturation or something in the Switch version.

I actually prefer the PS4 screenshots. They're softer and more pleasant to look at.

Switch does looks better, however, it's a compressed image. Probably PS4 is better irl.

3DS, Wii, PSP, Vita, PS2, PS3, PS4 & Steam.

I can't put much stock in this until the conditions are the same. It's a trailer from January against video from May. If does turn out to be accurate, however, then the developers have some explaining to do as to why the versions would be so different.

Personally, I think the PS4 images look too light and the Switch images look too dark.

That's indeed a rough comparison and perhaps a bit misleading.

I think it's comparing screenshots from different videos, with different compression and different times of day. Probably better to wait on DF analysis.

Now, I'm going to watch some videos and see if it looks like it's worth getting.
