Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Artwork from Mario x Rabbids leaked !

No control of the main characters? Using cover that can be destroyed? Sounds weird on paper, need to see the execution in action. Atleast it looks good visually!

Two big Mario games only a few months apart doesn't seem like a great idea. They may be different in terms of gameplay, but still, franchise fatigue is a thing.

SM3DL and MK7 say lol nope!

Kart is a special case, this is more like if you released Mario & Luigi and 3DL just a few months apart.

I might be wrong but I feel like it might be a Valkyria Chronicles-esque battle system.

No it isn't, it's two big Mario games releasing close together. You're only trying to dismiss it since it proves you wrong. For another example there's NSMB2, PMSS, and NSMBU all releasing near each other. What evidence do you have to back your claim?

And by the time NSMBU rolled around franchise fatigue had killed any excitement for it.

Aww, was hoping for a more traditional RPG, but it makes sense since Nintendo believes they can only have one traditional Mario RPG for some reason.

Except not cause it sold over 5 million copies.

So no evidence or data, you're just making a baseless claim to be negative then? Okay then, I'll just let SMO's inevitably great sales put you right. Funny, it's like we've done this before. :L

Ok, I thought this sounded cringe at first too, and then the next million times I heard people talk about it, but now that I've seen those images I actually laughed a lot just on descriptions and facial expressions. Ubisoft has a very wordly sense of humor, whereas Nintendo is very traditional, so if Nintendo allows Ubisoft free reign on that kind of thing I could see this targeting a totally different audience than the usual Nintendo crowd. Honestly, based on the description, I could even see this game going for sure Teen or maybe even mature lol

5 million copies is terrible sales for a NSMB game.

I'm not saying Odyssey won't sell well, but this won't do the company's image any favours by exemplifying one of their worst tendencies, over-milking the Mario IP.

Well, I gotta say, I'm interested in seeing how this plays. This looks way too wacky to pass up. Hopefully Nintendo did more than just lend Ubi their characters...
