Yeah, probably. The Marvel movies I like the least, Iron Man 3 for example, were still OK.

IMO Iron Man 3 is pretty rough. Ruins a comic book villain by making them a joke (and wastes like an hour of the viewers time with that), is kind of soulless, Stark just wandering around a lot of the film. I honestly was shocked by how bad Iron Man 3, and that's saying a lot because Iron Man 2 wasn't great either.

all very weird to me considering Iron Man 1 is like in my top 3 Superhero movies ever

I really can't argue with that appraisal. I didn't like the "real" villain either, nor his army of similarly powered henchmen. Maybe I'm slightly easier on it because i got it as gift, and watched it with a friend.

I don't know, maybe I'm strange or something, but having only watched Iron Man 3 for the first time last year or so, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, and it's certainly my favorite in its trilogy (definitely a huge improvement over the horrible mess that was the second one). I liked the villain, though I can understand some of the complaints since the ending was a bit... weird.

(...and RIP the other thread, I guess.)

That's fair. It wasn't so bad that the only way to enjoy it is ironically. It had some redeeming qualities. Also, having looked it up, it's the 10th highest grossing film of all time, so lots of people liked it.

As usual, you exagerate everything.

The movie was alright. I liked the first one better. It explored more regions of space.

I liked this one aswell, but it felt more contained.

I agree, it is a much smaller movie in that sense. I would compare it, in terms of comic books, if the first one was a saga, like a 3 issues adventure and the second would be a regular story, kinda of.

But both are a lot of fun. I think James Gunn is a part of it, cause he has a very unique and interesting take on making movies.

So I watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 last night.

First time in 11 months I go to the movies alone, since my girlfriend cheated on me with her current BF, so, after 11 months, that is over...

Anyways, it was just what the doctor ordered: FUN, FUN, FUN movie, has James Gunn written all over, the jokes get you from the left, right, front and back, you won´t be prepared.

It is like dozens of jokes, like, I was still laughing from one joke and another got me.

The movie is like the best comic book you read in a while, the history is pure comic book fun: high stakes but it feels intimate.

Amazing movie, beautiful, cool, reminds me of Hitchhiker´s Guide to the Galaxy. I hope it does great in box office, it deserves like very few other flicks do.

Anyone enjoying it?

hahaha I don't mean to laugh but I find it very endearing that you mentioned the first part. Fuck cheaters

that's good it sounds like it's a lot of fun. Loved the first and am going with a bunch of the fam to see this next weekend. Driving like an hour to see em so. The ma is like making it an event, she's extremely pumped as she loves the music and vibe of the first film (despite hating superhero films in general) so it sounds like she'll end up digging it which is good

great to hear it keeps a comic book vibe (colorful) and is still focusing on fun. I don't care how logical or 'deep' the plot is, just want some good music, fun crew, crazy scenarios

Absolutelly! It is a sad thing movies cost so much and are so hard to make, because I would love to see regular simple comic book stories in movie form. I mean, less grandiose.

But it is a great movie, had a lot of fun. And with the cheating thing, to laugh was all I really needed, it was an amazing experience, to feel that good after feeling that bad losing the girl and everything.

I hope they make a great profit, cause the movie was a great time to me.

And you will surely have a good time as well.

The jokes weren't that funny. They weren't "intelligent" jokes, if you know what I mean.

Do you mean this was a Marvel movie?

This is why I hate comic book movies. They're full of jokes and are not based in reality.

"not based in reality?" should fiction and fantasy be supposed to bbe based in reality. I mean you wouldn't watch fast and the furious or anabelle or it for reality right? And the jokes part is only true for marvel. Just watch fox comic book movies except deadpool or dc movies. much less jokes

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

By reality I mean based on what can be imagined as realisticaly possible in our reality. Scifi with technology that can be reasonably foreseen as being possible to create in some form in the future is realistic to me. Superman is not and neither is almost any of the other comic stuff. I hate that kind of stuff. Same with lord of rings, which has no semblance with reality.

My favorite comics when I was a kid where Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Punisher. Well, I don´t know how to go from here, but your comment made me think about it.

First off, the last 15 minutes or so, were amazing. That made the movie worth it in my eyes.

However, it had no backbone. I felt zero confidence in their scenes (apart from the last part). The opening scene in particular, was such a slap in the face. The target audience all of a sudden dropped 5 years. They were just clowns, all of them. Saving the galaxy? The stakes were more like, "oh shit, we don't have any snacks for our movie night on the couch!"

And it hurts! That last part pefectly displayed how far they could go with this movie. "Nah, too scary to make a good movie, lets just make a forgettable silly movie instead"

The first one impressed me a lot. This one...

I really, really liked the high Priestess and the Sovereign ppl, and overall the movie was decent. It wasn't outright bad in any sense, really. Going from 1 to 2 though, left me feeling very dissapointed. Ending part was great, but that was it.
