Actually Switch numbers for March were very close to US numbers and way higher than japans. This is mostly shipping policies by Nintendo at this point, but demand is certainly there.
It's supply contrained around the globe and did very well in France, Germany and Spain and ok in the UK. At this point all they can really do is ship more units.

Why are they having problems? I don't run the stockinformer site you know its not some conspiracy. I guess if you are trying to get the £259.99 deal then yes there will be problems. I'm just making the point this isn't my opinion it is based on the evidence that I have linked to.
What is your evidence that people are having problems getting a Switch in the UK?

You linked to scalpers hardly concrete evidence, you can come down and meet me at Camden with a camera if you want an we can go into as many stores in central London for stock if you want. My brother has been trying to pick one up since launch, your argument is comical as you're classing scalpers as stock.

If I check the biggest game store in Belgium it only has one available in one store (could even be secondhanded)

In Italy the system is easily obtainable: I ordered mine on amazon just 4/5 days before launch and managed to get it on day one. The only major retailer that's out of stock is MediaWorld, italian branch of MediaMarkt.

Ebuyer and Shopto both have stock of the Switch online to order for delivery.
414 Argos stores currently have stock available to collect for the Grey Switch, and 220 Argos stores have stock to collect for the Neon Switch.There's been plenty of places to pick up a switch these last couple of days, your brother shouldn't have a problem.
Playstation has been more popular in Europe so it's not too surprising
But they can fix the stock issues
