Forums - Sales Discussion - Capcom Ships 3.5 Million Resident Evil 7 Copies, While Dead Rising 4 Underperforms

Capcom published its financial results for the past fiscal year, including interesting shipment data for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and more.

Capcom released today its financial results for the fiscal year ended on March 31st, 2017.

As you can see in the table below, all numbers are in the positive realm, and are slightly increased year on year.

We also learn that Resident Evil 7 shipped 3.5 million copies, while Monster Hunter XX shopped 1.7 million copies. Monster Hunter Stories and Dead Rising 4 are still under a million copies shipped.

Last, but not least, we get a meaty description of the outlook for the current fiscal year, ending on March 31st, 2018. The company plans to focus on home video game development (defined “core competence”) on top of mobile contents.

Capcom also wants to expand digital download sales and sales on a worldwide scale, enhancing the product lineup , and leverage its popular IP.

Interestingly, Capcom expects to ship 2 million copies of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, and 2 more million of Resident Evil 7 biohazard by March 31st, 2018, which would bring the total for Resident Evil 7 to 5.5 million, including the past fiscal year results announced yesterday.

As you can see in the table below, the unknown “major title” teased by the company doesn’t have specific platforms or a release window just yet.

Nice to see they are doing well, I really hope the success of RE7 on PSVR sparked more VR development at Capcom. So far this gen I have been quite please with SFV and RE7, hope they can keep it up.

1.7 mill for monster hunter is not bad, if we think that it is a spin-off

Turns out if you make a good game, people will buy it.

Looking at the sales of RE5 and RE6, people bought the bad games as well.

Thats great news for RE 7.RE7 is the best survival horror game to come out in years and the sales show it.Not only that, but it seems the game has legs, so it will keep selling through the year. For anyone that havent bought the game yet, do yourself a favor and go buy it!

Well, if you want a game to sell well try not making it console exclusive to Xbox One.

I guess that means we'll get more of 7 and less of 1-3/4-6, sigh.

Also the VR exclusivity wasn't really a good idea, not for that side of the market anyway.

huh, DSO has it syaing both didn't meet Capcom's sales expectations: http://www.dsogaming.com/news/resident-evil-7-and-dead-rising-4-did-not-meet-capcoms-sales-expectations/
