Forums - PC Discussion - Ryzen 5 1400 gaming benchmarks, $170 4 core, 8 thread CPU

OCed to 3.8ghz it seems to be beating the Intel i5-7400 (199$).
How much is this cpu supposed to cost?

Just notice you wrote 170$ for it...

I guess that fine then, slightly higher bang for buck/performance too than the Intel cpu, if your willing to OC.

This makes it seem that in the 200$ ish range AMD is actually on top of Intel.
Been along time since that was the case.

One of the biggest holdbacks this gen, even digital foundry said it last week in that live event, with a better cpu this gen would have been more capable to hold that 60fps and push open world games a bit more.

Good news for pc, always nice to see a competative AMD cpu, I remember when they used to be kind in the Athlon era :D

Lets hope we get some better CPU's, maybe scorpio if we are all extremely lucky and else PS5 should deliver.

I really hope AMD is back in CPU market.

Hopefully we can finally get rid of dual cores forever in the near future. The most interesting thing will be how much optimization will affect performance of Ryzen cpus vs intel cpus

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

The question is if developers will finally make an effort to optimize for more than 4 cores. I'm gonna guess they will start as soon as the 6 core mainstream Coffeelakes drop.

The 1400 isn't that interesting, the 1500x is a way better deal. Double the L3 cache and 300mhz higher clock for just $20 more. No idea why anyone would want to buy the 1400.

So happy with my Ryzen 7 1800x. I tried my hand at a 4k video two days ago and wasn't something I even planned on doing, but, it was flawless. Hopefully the rest of the Ryzen series does well too.

As far as gaming was concerned.  It performs better than my I7 4790k.  Now, I just need to replace my R9 390X with a GTX 1080 Ti.

You should ask Epic Games and Unity Technologies that cause their engines are comparatively trash compared to engines specialized for consoles ...

I'd say developers who let themselves limit by that are trash.
