Which Movie Deserves to Win Best Picture?

Arrival 9 14.75%

Lion 3 4.92%

Fences 0 0%

Hidden Figures 3 4.92%

LA LA Land 19 31.15%

Moonlight 4 6.56%

Hell or High Water 1 1.64%

Manchester by the Sea 1 1.64%

Hacksaw Ridge 10 16.39%

Another Movie that was Not Nominated. 11 18.03%

Total:61

I've only seen Hell or Highwater and Hidden Figures. I like them both, but I am particularly partial to well done biopics. So I would prefer Hidden Figures to win out of these two.

I am no fan of musicals so even having not seen it I wouldn't want it to win.

Since Hacksaw Ridge is a biopic and so is Lion if / when I see them I may prefer one of them to Hidden Figures, so I can't say that I definitely want Hidden Figures to win.

lol DC - 1, Marvel - 0.

I don't agree with the Zootopia win. I liked Moana much more than Zootopia. Didn't see any of the others. Must watch Kubo at some point.

You're like the complete opposite of me right now, lol. I watched both and thought Zootopia was way better, imo Moana was good but nothing special (Still better than Frozen though). Didn't watch the rest as well.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess =P

I haven't seen the other movies but Arrival is a solid 3/10 for me.

Well, I mean, coming from you I'm not surprised, for me it was a very solid 9/10, the direction is a complete 10/10 though, the talent of Villeneuve is incredible, I can't wait to see Blade Runner 2 and Dune, both directed by him.

I thought it was very boring, moving along at a very pedestrian pace and ultimately non-sensical. And the acting - I can only watch Amy Adams having trouble breathing for so long. It seems that the way to get critical praise now is to have long shots of nothing happening, as long as the cinematography is good. A shame because Prisoners and Sicario were great.

Hidden Figures exagerrated a lot of things for the sake of drama though. The others probably did too though.

The oscars, that time of the year I get to know which movies I'm watching lol I think last year only saw zootopia & civil war

Woooooow Suicide Squad getting an Oscar. And i thought the Tree of Life made the Oscars lose all credibility, but there you go.

I'm watching the Oscars aso I'm not gonna get into details now but I really disagree, Arrival has a very solid screenplay which makes a majestic use of the flashbacks, the whole theme about comunication and the way languages affects our whole way or perceive things is fascinating, the story can derivate in a lot of reflexions, still the best part is how everything is directed, is visually very powerful, it constantly reminds me to kubrick but with its own personality, it creates an amazing atmosphere, sense of mistery and tension, it sucks you in completely and is fascinating, smart and even poetic all the time, is a really unique movie with a shocking and beautiful ending and Amy Adams is just brilliant. I can't praise it more, I watched it totally thinking it would be as overrated as Interestellar but instead I found a masterpiece, the only movie form Villeneuve at simiar heights is Incendies, Sicario was pretty good but far from Arrival.

Nopes, there is a very good reason why this sub-genre of sci-fi movies ask that you just roll with it and not ask questions. The way they translated the language - another thing to just roll with.
