Forums - Gaming Discussion - I have joined the master race

Well, after some consideration, I decided that it would probably be in my better interest to invest in a decent graphics card. i was really only playing PC games anyways so it really just made sense. the PC I already had was decent but the graphics were a bit lacking. So, about $150 and a week later, I ended up upgrading to a sub-par gaming rig.

My overall specs:

CPU: AMD A8-5500 --- 3.2 GHz

RAM: 8GB DDR3

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1050 Ti

400W power supply, 2TB storage, and Windows 10

also, just as an added note, i originally bought this PC pre-built about 3 years ago, and at the time it was on sale for around $300. so in total i have spent $450 on this PC, and it definitely out-performs consoles, so thats money well spent

Congratz ! Have fun !

That's a very good deal you got on that system, holy shit. The only thing you might need to watch out for is that power supply, as the ones in pre-built systems are sometimes kinda cruddy. Still, even if you replace it, it'll only cost you $50 or less.

Looks like a neat budget build.

probably should have brought that up actually.

i did end up replacing the built-in power supply. the old one only had a 300W maximum. and the new one i got was from EVGA, same with the GPU

Great, sounds like you're good to go. I really should look in to deals on prebuilts if there ever comes a time when I need to replace my whole system.

Cool, I am just not a fan of that CPU. I personally would have gotten the Intel Pentium G4560 for a budget build but granted you are just upgrading the GPU so not much to really do. The rest are good and congrats!!!

the CPU was also a component from when I bought it. after doing some research and by first-hand experience i found that it can jump between 50 degrees C and 75 degrees C in an instant. its kind of a problem, but since Im not doing anything risky, it should be fine

1050/1060 are beasts. Very good for people who don't need 420k@69fps for their games
