But let me guess - there's no way to bring my wiiU VC or 3DS VC purchases over, even though they are all noted in my MyNintendo Account?

You can't make that assumption. Nintendo has not made an announcement about VC yet, unfortunately.

considering how Ninty has operated with things like this, why cant he not assume?

so.... 14 years late?

Well what is the benefit of it on the PS4 and XB1? I mean the Switch doesnt have Achievements/Trophies and you couldnt redownload your PSN and XBLA games onto the PS4 and XB1 anyway.

I'm pretty sure somebody already answered but

-Almost every PSP game I bought got transferred to my Vita

-Xbox One BC. I have over 200 digital purchases on Xbox 360. A ton of them run on Xbox One

-Cross buy on PS consoles. I could buy Flower or Journey on PS3 and get updated versions on PS4 or even PSVita.

-A few Xbox 360 games (like Castle Crashers) grant you the free Xbox One version

-All of your paid apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc) are waiting for you on your 8th gen console. You don't even have to sign in again. All of your info carries over.

-Your friends, messages, Trophies, etc carry over.

-If you bought a video or something on PS3/PSP/Vita/Xbox 360, it's in your library on your 8th gen console.

Better late than never would have been fine in 2011 when the 3DS came out.

But they pushed it wayyyyyy too far.

So does this mean we have to buy all the VC games from our WiiU yet again?

Most probably.

My 3DS purchases on the same account later used for WiiU didn't carry over, so I've no faith in Nintendo allowing WiiU purchases to carry over to Switch

Well, your 3DS purchases only do that when they are cross play. This is more a Wii to Wii U situation, so I think there's a good chance you will just need to pay a $1-$2 fee. Though yeah, given the amount of times they've asked us to repurchase many of these games, they should just be free.

Also, if your console gets lost, broken or stolen, carrying over your account and purchases is a simple matter of signing in on a new console.

Really late, but better than never!

Not sure if that actually means you can transfer your VC games though

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I do kinda wish Nintendo would give us a discount for wiiU owners who bought mk8 and for vc titles. Like say give us 50% off or something when upgrading to mk8 deluxe and vc for example. Cause Nintendo does have information for all our purchases which we made with our wiiU account, you just have to call them if you ever say got your system stolen and need to transfer your games to a new system.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Well that's good. Does that mean you can also download the games downloaded from the 3DS and Wii U..?

1. With Wii U you were able to bring your Nintendo console based Wii VC games over with a very small cost. Wii U only has Nintendo console VC content.

2. Nintendo now ties 100% of content to your account and that has been done with the launch of My Nintendo and that includes digital content purchased on Wii U and 3DS.

3. When Nintendo stated Switch does not have backwards compatability, it specifically only called out physical games.

4. Reggie also highlighted VC as an option in an interview with Wired.

What I would say first is, we recognize that some of our most passionate fans have spent quite a bit, whether it's with Virtual Console on Wii or Wii U, and we recognize that consumers are rightly concerned about moving to Nintendo Switch without backward compatibility. My comment is: Stay tuned, we understand the concern, more information to come.

I think that all highly suggests that Nintendo WILL have a digital form of backwards compatability, if only for VC titles. We do know that VC titles (some) will be getting enhanced with online play and maybe they will, once again, make us pay $1~$2 to upgrade the titles to Switch from either our WiiU or 3DS .. or free if we owned the title on both systems.
