You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

What about Ms. Pacman? Did you have a huge hatred for her as well?

Are you out protesting Marvel for making a female Iron Man, or Thor a woman, ect?

Or let's talk movies. All female Ghostbuster. All female Ocean's eleven.

I could go on. This is not a Japanese thing only.

I agree with you here. Stupid ideas are global.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to have a crossover game with a franchise that already is part of Otaku culture, like Senran Kagura/Bomberman. It makes more sense. That way Konami has access to a pre-existing fanbase of "Otaku basement dwellers" as someone else referred to them.

Funny how the actual game in no way matches what the concept art & description would leave you to believe. Whatever. #FuckKonami

I'm expecting a Jim Sterling (thank god for him) #Fu@Konami news segment anytime now. Don't let us down Mr. Sterling.

Apparently each team has a base and you need to destroy the opponent's base. At the end, she has a message warning her that her base is under attack (I think ^^).

It really does look like a nerfed version, that's why I think it's more aimed at a younger and feminine audience. And clearly, the "destructible clothes" part is just anecdotical, it's nothing more than Fire Emblem Heroes, as an example. Nothing "Perv otakus" oriented.

If the game is aimed at young Japanese girls, Konami must be showing them how easily destructible clothing should work, and that it is totally acceptable to wear them in public.

Then, do you think Fire Emblem Heroes has a problem and is aimed at otaku basement dwellers too? It shows the exact same kind of images when your troops take damages. Maybe less sexy, but I remember people being really happy about Lucina's getting her costume damaged when the images first released... But well, these otaku basement dwellers were also really disappointed when the "petting" feature of the last game didn't come in the west. And I don't remember Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates being labeled as "garbage made for otaku basement dwellers".... (IMO, it's kinda the direction it took in order to become popular...)

The "destructive clothes" everyone is arguing about is vastly exaggerated. From what we've seen so far, you have one artwork per character showing their costume damaged, and you can see it rarely in game (for a couple of seconds in the corner of the screen) and on the result screen. That's all. It's not "destructive clothes" at all by the way, because the characters models don't change.

Seriously, making such a fuss over nothing like that... I hope you guys never find out Senran Kagura.

I hate Konami just as much as everyone, but you should attack the game about its real problems, like the gameplay which looks awful, not the really anecdotical things like one artwork you don't like.

And it's the same thing with all the other "Reboot with feminine cast" projects Hollywood is so attached to right now. The problem isn't the feminine cast itself, it's that the majority of those projects are just lazy and awful adaptations trying to use the original idea with "Now with lots of girls!", and absolutely no other idea than that. If the content was good, then these projects would be good. These ideas are usually used to hide the real flaws of the content, and then the idiots behind the idea can have a discussion about feminism and sexism rather than about how bad they are at their job, because people complain about the wrong things.

Talk about the real issues here, about how bad the game is or looks, not "OMG they made a girl instead of a guy!".

Whoa! I personally have no problem with the Otaku culture in games, as long as the age rating of the game is appropriate, its fine with me. I was just quoting another forum user when I said "Otaku basement dwellers' because I thought it was amusing. They obviously don't like Otaku, and thats their opinion, which is fine. I actually own a couple of those games and enjoy them for what they are. Yes, the destructable clothing in Bombergirl is very tame, I'm surprised anyone could be offended by it.

As surprising as the sex change of the Wachowski... siblings. But their clothes i don't wanna see destroyed while they wearing them. >_>

Btw. I watched the video, but i didn't see any skirts and bras get blown off.

Yeah, sorry, my answer wasn't aimed at you personally, I just began answering to your comment talking about "easily destructive clothing" and ended up writing a lot more starting from there than what I originally had in mind. My bad! ^^

The original article lacks information so far and just talk about "destructible clothing" (which is wrong), and some people get pissed because of it and the "girl" part, I'm surprised too. The other website where I've seen this news (with the gameplay video) was much more focused on "it looks slow, unoriginal and bad" than "A girl, how dare they!"...

Yes, the gameplay shown in the vid does look very bland. Even the bomb explosions look bad. Bomberman R for Switch looks much more fun and playable. With Hideo Kojima gone I think Konami will start doing some crazy things in the future, trying to reinvigorate their franchises. Bombergirl is just the beginning.
