Just Cause 3 tested

This is interesting, because even though it still doesn't run at a locked 30fps, and even dips down to low 20's in some cases, it looks a whole lot more playable, and I think I'd actually be okay with that performance... planning on picking the game up eventually anyway, so it's nice to know it'll run a little better, even if it isn't perfect.

He does say it's one of the biggest improvements he's seen and bare in mind he's 'pushing it' to test the game. I've seen many other vids and in general play it's rock solid.

Frame Pacing probably got a big leg up as well.
Even if framerates were high and you had poor frame pacing, the game can still feel terrible.

especially the 3rd video shows pretty well, that many fps problems on the PS4 are CPU related and in those cases boost mode can show really nice gains - if however there is GPU related drops boost mode doesn't improve things that much, as it only uses 18 CUs @ 911MHz

but the fact that some CPU related fps drop show up even at PS4 pro clock makes me think that if Scorpio still uses Jaguar cores at a few MHz above PS4 Pro, then what it can achieve is pretty limited although it has a ~6TF GPU and more RAM etc

The Scorpio also has 4x the L2 cache. That's a big CPU boost even if it is using Jaguar at the same clock rate.

yea that's a fair point and should increase processing efficiency quite a bit

judging by X1 die shots (28nm) the additional cache could be about 2/3 of the die size of the esram

Fallout 4 update 1.14 provides a conundrum
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-fallout-4-ps4-pro-patch-analysis

Fallout 4's new PS4 pro update has landed. As promised by Bethesda's blog, patch 1.14 (also known as 1.9) pushes the game to a native 1440p, adding in expanded draw distances and a higher grade god ray effect. It also improves frame-rates compared to a regular PS4, but we're still some way off a 30fps lock. However there's a twist: by using patches earlier than 1.14, and selecting PS4 Pro's boost mode option, it's possible to achieve smoother results than Bethesda's official patch - although all other Pro enhancements are obviously left off the table.

If you want to best frame rate, don't update!

I couldn't wait and tested my creations with the patch. First time I saw my sign working as intended

Before it was running at 2fps with the sign connected to the power grid. Perhaps an earlier patch already fixed the extreme slowdown with complex powergrids, no clue. I would have to reinstall the game on the vanilla ps4 to test that. It still only runs at 20 fps or so in my heavily overbuild town (used an exploit to keep building and building and building) It's better than it used to be, and night and day with the power turned on.

Graphics, dunno, I was using psvr as secondary screen to test :) Looked great to me.

So glad this game is running better. I was really enjoying it, but the slow down got hilarious at times. I think I will go back and finish this up once 4.50 drops for the rest of us.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Might actually go back to this game now, I never seem to get very far in them, and performance was a little ropey.
