"Go to point A to B" So pretty much every open world game? maybe you should just stick to linear experiences?

In other open world games there other interesting things happening while you are in that kind of mission. In GTA V you get stucked in a boring city with nothing more than pedestrians and cars.

it's been some time since i played it but i'm pretty sure gta v had random events that would pop up as you explored the world. i really don't understand what it is you're talking about, "boring city with nothing more than pedestrians and cars". i guess we must have played different games.

With that much user base that it is available on...... Not surprising!

I know right! Just look at all the other 75+ million titles that have the same userbase available!

Hahahahaha xDD that made me laugh so much.  Gta is just a beast.  Simple as.

What i fear the most from this news is that r* will neglect single player dlc completely and focus a lot more on online multiplayer content for their future titles. Gawd i hope rdr2 gets a dlc as good as rdr dlc

Impressive sales numbers. A shame the game isn't very good.

Very impressive. Well on its way to being the best-selling game ever, if we count only "regular" games that didn't benefit from widespread cheap digital downloads (so that takes Tetris and Minecraft out of the equation).

However, not to downplay its success or anything, GTAV has benefited greatly from being a multiplatform release. I'd like to see a breakdown between all platforms, but I don't think it's a stretch to assume that, as far as individual releases go, no one version of GTAV has yet to come close to approaching Mario Kart Wii (36.83M), New Super Mario Bros. (30.8M), or New SMB Wii (29.9M), the three best-selling games excluding games benefiting from heavy bundling at and after launch (e.g., Super Mario Bros., Wii Sports, Sports Resort, & Play, and the Game Boy port of Tetris).

Still, GTAV is the most successful third-party game ever. Even its individual ports dominate their respective platform. The PS3 port is still probably the best-selling non-exclusive individual release ever, and at last count it was I think at 21-22 million copies, damn close to Pokemon Red & Blue and Gold & Silver (which are kinda unfair comparisons as well since they're technically two games each) and Mario Kart DS, and way ahead of anything released on any PlayStation system. The 360 version was at last count closing in on 18 million, far ahead of anything else released on any Xbox system (excluding Kinect Adventures, which was bundled with the Kinect). If the PS4 port continues to retain a high attach rate it could possibly take the PS3 versions spot by time the generation ends (though the 30M mark may be elusive), and the XBO port could similarly end up at a very high spot in the all-time individual releases category.

Both MK Wii and NSMB Wii were bundled (after they already sold a huge amount.)

With digital sales and same kind of bundles as the above games got, the PS3 version of GTA V would be over 30 million too.

The true question is, will it outsell wii sports?

Outsell doesn't seem right wii sports was bundled with most wii's. It probably sold 2 copies on its own. Ok maybe not but whether you wanted it or not you got it. Sold seperately at retail or as a digital download is what should be considered when ranking game sales.

It was never bundled in Japan and the attach rate there is 29.5%.
So it would have done around 30m on its own if it hadn't been bundled.

Incredible, Rockstar deserves it. Ran pretty well on ps3 considering how bad that console was with open world games, AC2 was horrible in comparison

Ubisoft wasn't good at optimising games on PS3 although they improved and AC IV runs well.

Also I think you haven't played many open wolrd games on PS3, Batman Arkham City and Infamous 2 looked amazing and also ran well and Infamous 2 even had destrcutible environments.

OP This game has sold amazingly well and I think that's due to thee popularity of GTA Online.

I would like GTA V to come to Switch as this is one of those franchises that I think is amazing on both consoles and handhelds like God of War. This would be a system seller for the Switch to me.

I played quite a few, Arkham City included and the fps drops were usual. Perhaps it was because I had the slim or the hdd was defective idk, but I even had problems with uncharted 3 at some parts

Arkham City has some framerate drops but they are few and far between, in general the game runs well and looks amazing. GTA V also has framerate drops on PS3 though and in terms of the level of detail I don't think its as amazing as Arkham City on PS3 though it does have a dynamic day and night cycle.

I never had any problems with Uncharted 3 though I'm also not a person who can see a 3 to 4 fps drop like some people do.
