I don't care about your American politics. And if you have nothing to add other than personal jabs, please move along.

I added something which you ignored. I was commenting on what you said as being a bunch of fluff.

Of course I ignored it. You had nothing worth responding to.

So if you think the Switch leakes by Eurogamer is false... Then let's take a look at what they leaked.

* 1020MHz CPU Core Clock.
* 1333mhz to 1600mhz DRAM clock. Up to developers.
* 768MHz GPU clock docked.
* 307.2MHz GPU clock undocked.
* 720P screen.
* 6.2" screen.
* 10-point multi-touch.
* Tegra powered.

So let's assume you are correct and that it is all false then?

And let's ignore their later statement that the clock rates were "Theoretical Maximums". Aka. Not final.

How is 6TF, 12GB GDDR5, higher cache, checkerboard 4K, and likely not Zen CPU vague...?

Also innocent until proven guilty in response to your last sentence.

DF is saying the CPU is not Zen because of a vague statement from the document. Im not saying DF is being vague. Thats a pretty big assumption from one tiny phrase. Sorry to tell you this but Digital Foundry lays it on thick to get views and clicks. I am amazed that there are actual YouTube channel fanboys who will defend their chosen media outlet blindly. Whats next? Breakfast cereal fanboys? Its a sign of the times I guess.

When you're getting so personal over hardware leaks, calling everyone in this thread a fanboy because they disagree with your poor logic and even getting moderated for it, it's time to start asking yourself questions.

Digital Foundry's Youtube fanbase is terrible but they are not too bad. They do go overboard with some of their analysis of hardware and software complaining about a few minutes of framerate drop from 30fps to 26fps in a twenty hour long game. Their fanbase is the most vile PC "masterrace" fanbase I've seen on internet.

But these specs leaks are a good thing. Atleast people wouldn't be fooled by Nintendo on how good the hardware is and know what platform would suite them. I wanted a Switch but now I don't want one with these specs at that price.

It's interesting how people read information. DF never stated that Scorpio will or will not be able to do true 4K. They only provided a white paper that shows developers that they have the same tools that the PS4 Pro has for optimizations.

When you think about it, some developers might go for 4K 30fps or 4K 60fps or more graphical features and use the up-scaling techniques used by the Pro. The thing is, developers have plenty of options to utilize the Scorpio power depending where they believe they want to enhance their game. A white paper is not a definition of how strong the actual hardware will be. Its a document that let the developers know all the things they can utilize with a particular hardware to get the most out of its performance.

I will say the article has made assumptions appear way to strong for such meager information we have about Scorpio at this time.

Strange that a site dedicated to finding the smallest resolution differences now say that resolution doesn't matter. Ramblings indeed.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-does-resolution-really-matter

Perhaps if you actually tried to understand how they came to that conclusion... You might understand that they aren't wrong, besides the Article was in response to a Nelson poll.

So I can't use old information, but Digital Foundry can. Hmm. And not only did DF use old information with the Switch spec leak, they also used old information with the recent Scorpio spec leak. And with both leaks, proceeded to pile assumptions on top of old info. Its OK for them to do these things? I say it is misinformation.

It's not misinformation.
They were not willing to release the information untill they had enough sources to verify it's legitimacy, which is why they sat on it for so long.
And at the time of posting, was accurate.

This is how legitimate outlets work... And it is better than them reporting on every single possible rumor.

Their opinion isn't the opinion of some random hobo walking along the street either, their opinion is built from technical understanding and knowledge.

The first key difference is that you tried to pass it off as current information (Strange that a site dedicated to finding the smallest resolution differences now say that resolution doesn't matter.) While DF gave the proper age, and natureof the information they were using in both of those cases.

Context. They weren't saying Resolution doesn't matter, they were saying it is less important with a ton of post-processing, anti-aliasing etc'.
You need to read the entire article within it's intended context... And that their reasoning is that, there is more to image quality than resolution... And they aren't wrong on that assumption.

Is resolution nice though? Heck yes.

Fact: Digital Foundry knowingly receives info that is protected by a legally binding NDA agreement. The information was not meant to be revealed to the public and is not yet finalized by the companies involved for public release.

We have nothing to do with those who break NDA's whistle-blow.
That is their circus, not ours... And it does not make the information Digital foundry provides as inaccurate.

SonytendoAmiibo said:

Fact: Digital Foundry uses outdated info to substantiate their claims.

Fact: Digital foundry waits untill it has enough evidence and sources to substantuate their claims, this may delay the release of information. This is a good thing.

Just because the lemmings jump off the cliff means I am supposed to jump too? Sorry to disappoint you. I am an older person who grew up with news that was not filled with assumptions and opinions. News simply reported the facts. What passes as news today is nothing more than twisted truth and manufactured lies designed to get more views. Its sad.

I love a good conspiracy theory.

Whether Scorpio is "true 4K" or not - it's basically Xbox One Pro - meaning you get a range of enhancements. Make of that what you will.

It doesn't matter in the end.
It was common knowledge that Scoprio was not going to be a "True 4k" device in tech circles, it's something I stated on this forum after the Scorpio reveal multiple times.
The technology does not exist in a form factor that is affordable for consoles to take advantage of.

But it will still end up being the console with the best graphics this generation.

This thread is not about the capabilities of the Scorpio. Its about Digital Foundry and the wild assumptions they make with there spec leak videos. Their latest Scorpio spec video is a good 75% speculation. Why cant they wait untill they actually get their hands on one to test, and then tell us what the results are?

The difference is, Digital Foundry is well versed on this topic, it's not some wildlish outlandish, impossible opinions that they are throwing around because cats.
The bright side is, Digital Foundry lets us know of what their opinion is, they don't hide the fact.

You need to stop making something out of nothing.

SonytendoAmiibo said:

But a site highly regarded like Digital Foundry should not be lowering themselves down to the level of common rumor mongers. YouTube already has millions of them already.

Look if you don't like Digital Foundry, then the simple solution is... To stop reading their content and move on with life.

The rest of us will continue to use them as a good source of information.

And the reason why they made the statement they did is because all the information we currently have points to it, it's not just a random guess, they are basing that idea on a fundamental understanding of hardware. And ironically I said the same thing last year, that Scorpio will likely use Jaguar or it's direct successor, Puma.

So I ask you this, what kind of technical understand of computing hardware do you have? Why should we believe you over Digital Foundry?

Hi y'all. I'm back from my bancation. I want to congratulate you on cherry picking through my previous posts and taking everthing I said totally out of context. Fine work indeed.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Calling everyone in this thread....... what? I'll have you know sir, I was referring to only one person and even though I can not say it again I still stand by what I said.

Yeah, me. Even though like half a dozen other people have been calling you out on your nonsense. But yeah, I get it, namecalling is way easier than actually debating the topic at hand. Especially when you don't have any real argument to stand on.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Read the Op. It is asking if you think Digital Foundry is going over board with these early spec leaks and causing damage to products that are not even at market yet. Some people are saying that they have altered their decision to purchase these products because of an opinion from Digital Foundry. What do you think? What is your opinion?

If I were to describe your thread in four words, it's "Guilty until proven innocent". Digital Foundry's reputation is tarnished if they are proven to have spread false information beyond reasonable doubt. Your assertion is ultimately based off of knee-jerk reaction to negativity... negativity that was the result of expectations going wild from some people.
