You said in a way as if it wasn't Nintendo's intention to replace two systems with one device.

Since the hardware was revealed on October, I knew it they would end up replacing both, well actually i have a hunch when they gave a clue with "unifying both concept".

Depends on how successful the Switch will be, but i predict a lot of titles will be available on both platforms, with Switch being the superior port and 3DS features being neglected.

Anyone can tell 3DS is going to be phased out this year and that Switch will be their main platform.

I suspect 3DS will have about a year left from now with some support, but I think 75 to 90 percent of support will go to Switch from now on. And yes, I do remember Nintendo said that DS would not be the Gameboy successor. If that were true, where is the Gameboy Advance successor?!

Probably not too many physical retail releases but I'm sure the eshop will still get games into 2018.

When they release the full portable version of the switch they will discontinue the 3DS untill then its their pokémon selling money making machine on the side lol
