Forums - Nintendo Discussion - JoyCon 80$ - Pro Controller 70 $

Ok, that pricing seems to be way off.

At that price those Joy-Cons better be awesome tech. Very curious about the HD rumble tech.

To justify the price of the pro controller however ....

That's pretty expensive, wish they would have removed the extra features to maybe drop the price to $250 USD for the console

Another Nintendo console that comes with a weird controller and basically forces you to pay extra for a "pro" version.

And now it's even more expensive.

70$? why?

Thats for 2 joycons (left and right) basically like buying 2 Wiimotes

Gaming controllers have been getting more and more expensive each generation.  I thought at first it's because of R&D costs, but when I think more about it (such as costs of 3rd party controllers) I am not really sure.

This isn't exclusive to Nintendo though.  Everyone's doing it.  I have never found a decently cheap controller that actually works well too.

70$ is insane for a Pro Controller. the comparables for PS4 and Xbox (very similar controllers) are like 50, maybe 55$. Is Nintendo trying to price out the casual market? I don't mind a 300$ system but if the accessories are that overpriced its going to be game over immediately.

the concept that an extra Joycon set might cost 80$ is just absolutely insane. No family with like a couple of kids is going to buy the system if the accessories are at that rate

there is no justfiable reason the extra set of Joycons, with how tiny they are, should cost that much. ugh

There is no way on Earth that the majority of people are going to be willing to pay 70$ for a Pro controller, that's crazy. There are certain limits to what consumers will consider acceptable for certain things. Its exactly why, despite inflation, game prices have not went over 60$ in the last like 20 years. Technically, yes, they should have by now (again because of inflation), but consumers are stuck at being uncomfortable past that price

pretty sure a regular controller (a Pro controller is nothing revolutionary) at over 60$ is goign to be a big no no buy for most people. I mean an extra set of Joycons and a Pro Controller would put you back 150$. Goodness

I'm just saying that controllers have always been expensive. If I recall correctly, the PS4 controller was over $60 (at launch).  I could be wrong since I don't own one and never looked it up myself.

I mean, you might be right but controllers aren't games.  People don't buy controllers the same way they buy games.  I personally think a lot of people buy them reluctantly.

Fucking hell Nintendo...

That pro controller better have all of the features the Joycons have.
