The base PS4 price is 299 not 250. I dont see it reaching 199 any time soon. Look how long it took the 360 and the PS3 to get there.

I dont see it going much higher than 18mi in the bastante case senario.

PS: I'd live to see some one reviving old threads with people predicting 20-25mi sales every year.

I was one of those guys that though back in 2015, if everything went right.... in 2016 they might be able to do 20m.

Not everything went right though, PS4 slim launched at 299$, games got delayed.

Xbox One Slim turn out to be pretty competitive.

So they only managed 17.5m this year.... which is still a pretty decent number.... I think 2017 is the PS4's peak year.

Sadly Im not sure 2017 will be 20m either... but its going to be up YOY, and most likely above 18-18,5m.

wrong predictions do exist yes, i've made plenty of very, very wrong predictions, and you've been on the site for 7 years now so i bet you've made some very wrong predictions as well

Well, but back then I was bashed as a fanboy for beliving 15mi for the PS4 and 10mi for the XOne would be resenable predictions.

In the end it is kind of a curse having such a good memory of those epic battles. I just cant let it go. Unfortunetly my big nemesys is no longer with us.

17.5m - 15m = 2.5m off in terms of prediction.

20m - 17.5m = 2.5m off in terms of prediction.

But because they use the number "over", we actually do know that those that said 20m in prediction, where closer than your 15m.

Also alot didnt go as well for sony this year as it could have. Those 20m predictions dont seem so bad to me.

I will say this though.... marketing rights PS4 has them.

supposedly these are all for the PS4:
Destiny 2
Red Dead 2
Battlefront 2
Call of Duty
Mass Effect

Ontop of the 1st party year Sony will have in 2017!
I cant see why it would sell less in 2017 than it did in 2016.

It will certainly be up YOY, Third Parties underperformed in 2016 and the only holiday exclusive was Last Guardian, which isn't exactly a system seller.

I don't think it will reach 20m though. 18-19m is my guess for now, 2017 is going to be the peak year for ps4.

2017 - 19m (72.4m total)

2018 - 16m (88.4m total)

2019 - 10m (98.4m total)  (PS5 launch November 2019)

2020 - 4.5m (102.9m total)

2021 - 2m (104.9m total)

My thoughts , I know this is optimistic.

2017 - 20 mil ($249 /Pro $349)73 mil total.
2018 - 17 mil($199/ Pro $299)90 mil total.
2019 - 13 mil ($170/ Pro $249) 103 mil total.
2020 - 8 mil ($149/Pro $249)110mil total , PS 5 launch.

Hardly will be YoY in 2017 with Scorpio and Switch coming in same year.

Why would they take away sales from the ps4?

Scorpio don't have exclusives.

I think there is no competition between the two.

And almost gamer can't tell the difference between Pro's checkerboard rendering 4k and Scorpio's 4k.
