I think it was FFVI, I first played it on an emulator..

the poll only gave me so many options...im sorry...

I've heard it plays similar to the old Final Fantasy games, but truth to be told I didn't like Bravely Default all that much, especially the extreme padding near the end. I also didn't care for the generic story or uninteresting dialogue. What is a good Final Fantasy to start with? keep in mind my opinion on Bravely Default though. I'm also not keen on playing a 3D game with PS1 era graphics, especially when FF VII is getting a remake next year, if they don't delay it at least. . |
You should definitely play the PS1 games.
FF7 feels as fresh as it did in 1997. Crazy how good it holds up once you're past the look of the character models which stops being a problem 2 hours in.
By playing it you will appreciate the remake even more.
Started with FFVII (japanese version, ordered the import on release), got me hooked into the whole genre in general.

Yeah i did :). Back then FFVII really looked amazing, i had no idea what to expect but i just got excited for the game.
Importing in the 90s was not so easy as it is now (im from the Netherlands), but i had some nice connections with a German retailer (i live close to the border) who imported it for me. Had to wait about 10 days to get it, paid like 100 dollars for it. Probably the funniest fact is that i had zero understanding of the japanese language :D
But i managed to finish the game all by myself (later found a translation guide online, so i understood the story in detail), and since then hooked on FF and the whole RPG gerne in general :)

First and favourite is FF VIII.
I'm hoping that FF XV turns out to be decent too. Will get to that once I clean up the trophies in the Uncharted series.
