Original on NES within a week of it's release. It was purchased from Funcoland.
I still remember opening the box with my brother and being amazed at the included world map and weapon guide on fold-out glossy paper.

I also remember the instructions booklet being the most massive one I had ever seen for a game.

Oh memories...

OMG I REMEMBER FUNCOLAND!

The first was my first.

12 and it also the only one I liked by far... (I tried the old ones and the 13 too after that).

By far the best, although not most profitable, game store that purchased and sold both new and used games.

*EditI guess the proper way to say it would be, games consigntment store.

Final Fantasy 4. I didn't really know much about the franchise up until then, but it was the first one I played and enjoyed.

VIII. I was too young to understand it all that well, but I still got a lot out of it and I did like it.

"Final Fantasy" - the first one (US 1990 release), was my first Final Fantasy game.

OP you should have put XV in the poll. It was heavily marketed towards first-timers, and I even know a few people from this site played it as their first FF
