IF the numbers going around are true (100k difference) then that's extremely bad for Sony. That could actually indicate a shift to what's the popular console among buyers from PS4 to XB1. The 100k win would have been fine without the Pro launch, but with Pro launching? Awful.
Again, IF true.

Agreed, if Sony didn't win by a big amount despite having the PS4 Pro + PS4 Slim launching recently ... then it shows XBox One is finding traction in this market and able to stick close to the PS4 no matter what.

Is the yoy down for X1 and PS4 still true?

No, It was never true because it's not known yet

Lol people really are thinking Crap gamer is a reliable source of Info.

He and his friend Mooch burned a PS4pro just to sway people to not buy the console.
Just type "PS4pro Burned" idiot didn't even burn the damn thing right he burned it where the fan is which is one of the least likely places to caught fire.

They do 12 hour podcasts just to trash on Sony and i'm not kidding they are literally doing 12hour podcasts, going to stores for an hour or two standing there just to see if people are buying Xbox instead of PS4.
One of them even harassed a kid who wanted a PS4 instead Xbox

Seriously people are making videos about this stuff can't make this thing up.

Their E3 podcast, this is becoming creepy it's not even funny anymore.

And that guy from windows central was on Crap Gamers podcast with Mooch so yeah his "sources" are reliable.

So I took a look at past sold-through figures Sony announced:

- The PS4 sold 18.5 million by the end of 2014.
- Sold 30 million by November 25, 2015.
- Sold 35.9 million by the end of 2015.
- Sold 50 million by December 6, 2016.

So, the PS4 sold 11.5 million units from the beginning of 2015 to just before BF 2015 while it sold 14.1 million units from the beginning of 2016 to Dec 6. Though we don't know how much the PS4 sold after BF 2015, I think it is reasonable to guess that the PS4 is slightly up YOY or flat in WW YTD sales since Black Friday in non-American countries is bigger this year than last year.

Assuming the 1.1 million figure is true, then the PS4 is down YOY by 440K units for November in the US. Prior to November, the PS4 was already down YOY by ~190K units in the US, meaning it is down by a total of 530K units. We know that in the UK, the PS4 is up YOY just be a smidge (3%) for Black Friday. I don't know if it is up YTD or not, so if someone can help me on this, thanks. This means that the rest of Europe, East Asia, SE Asia, and other regions of the world must have really picked up the slack in order to cancel out the big YOY decrease in the US.

Of course, this is if the PS4 sold 1.1 million for November NPD.

Now, IF the perfect storm you described happened, and Sony had their BBF and hit all those amazing milestones on a down YOY, then I'd attribute it to spin on the part of Sony. I can't think of any other way to square that circle. They possibly included worldwide sales this year instead of referring to just the NPD numbers. I only say this based on the idea that companies spin numbers all the time, and I'm not criticizing them if they did this. It just doesn't seem outside of the realm of possibility.

They did refer to worldwide figures. I thought it was pretty clear.

That Sony statement wasn't a NPD statement and was released before NPD results even came out. Sony actually stopped making NPD statements a long time ago.

Against, IF true.

for it to be true though would require that Playstation has its best Friday sale EVER, AND pass 50 million consoles, AND have the pro pre orders - and yet still do 400k+ WORSE than last year.

That the xbox one S that has been doing well for 4 months with all those sales did WORSE than last year.

It also would require that the only two places to have this information be "windows central" and "crap gamer". Leaving the question why would they have the numbers, why does no one else have the numbers - and specially why wouldn't xbox have the numbers?

On top of that how would they have the playstation numbers? Who would trust the two most biased people possible with both Microsoft numbers AND playstation numbers?

Couldn't say it any better

If you guys are curious about the percentage of WW sales the US encompass for both consoles, here are the calculations:

PS4 US sales (assuming that Windows Central numbers are true) = 15.93 million
PS4 WW sales = 50 million
PS4 US % = 31.86%

XBO US sales as of the end of 2015 = 11.12 million
XBO WW sales as of the end of 2015 = 19.1 million (based on EA's PS4 + XBO estimates)
XBO US % as of the end of 2015 = 58.22%

US numbers are based on this image Aquamarine provided and numbers from the archives.

That XB1 percentage is lower than i expected.

Out of curiosity, what did you believe the XB1 global sales were before seeing this?
