Forums - Sales Discussion - Shuhei Yoshida: PS4 Pro and PSVR Sales are exceeding expectations

They keep saying the same thing but where are the numbers? Is it only out in Japan?

Good to hear. I'm still on the fence about PSVR, price is holding me back, despite PSVR being the cheapest headset on the market.

Teh Chartz has taught me that no numbers = sales must be bad. Maybe they just shipped a very small amount of VR's.

That only applies to MS tbh, based on the two markets where they have a chance lol.

I really wonder if psvr is selling, it always seems to be well stocked in the shops. Who's buying it? I never see advertising or people talking about it

PS4 Pro is so awesome, Uncharted 4 and FF 15 looks insane and Horizon Zero Dawn is coming !!! And Yakuza 6 + Detroit Become Human !!!!!!!!

Not much new here. It is great to see them talking about it, but it is pretty easy to look around and see PSVR and the Pro are sold out. Both units are doing very well right now. It will be a few months before we can get a real idea of how much sustained demand there is for each. As more games arrive for each device, I believe they will continue to do well, if not improve on where they are.

At this point the most important thing for each of these new hardware entries is support. If we continue to get more 4K HDR video options, escpecially full downloads via PS Video and 4K HDR Boradcasting on PS Vue via PS4 Pro, then that unit will become highly valuable. Then we need games that really start to widen the gap between PS4 and PS4 Pro. Both need to run smooth, but PS4 Pro needs to push higher res, and look easily better. On the PSVR side they need to continue to release big VR exclusives, and get VR support from large franchises. MLB The Show, Wipeout, Gran Turismo Sport, all need to push PSVR the first half of 2017 after RE7 and Farpoint in January.

Of course but you can expect numbers if they are great. Sony just released concrete numbers outside of a financial report phase because there was something amazing to tell for PR.

Then to be brutally honest, "exceding expectations" and "selling out" doesn't mean much, because those expectations and the shipment numbers could have been unimpressive to begin with.

I didn't say otherwise, just passing on the information in the article. As I said, Shuhei Yoshida didn't even say it was "exceeding expectations". Word for word he said "Well, it's selling out pretty much everywhere." And you are right. There's not much to make of that. It's pretty much just a small factual statement, and we can't gauge demand or numbers from that at all, and it's hard to day anything positive or negative. I think it's pretty natural that Sony haven't been shouting their expectations over the rooftops for a brand new product like this where they don't know fully what to expect.

if both are selling out it means sales are exceeding exceptations otherwise there would be more stock
