Forums - Gaming Discussion - Because there doesnt seem to be one - The Final Fantasy XV dicussion thread!

I'm about 10 hours in now and still can't make up my mind about. Except for XIV i played all games in the serie and loved them all. It sound and looks great, the open world is fine, story kinda interesting (although i done mostly hunts and sidequests so i am sure it will get better). But somehow this battle system is really putting me off. I feel like i'm playing Kingdom Hearts with the wrong characters. Strangly i really enjoy how KH plays, but for FF it just seems wrong.

I miss the turn based fights, having full controle over all characters in my team. The limited way magic is available and used makes me sad. The level-system is lame and the skills feel pretty useless. It almost feels like Final Fantasy for dummies.

I will finish the game for sure, but up till now it's (sadly) about at the bottom of my list when it comes to FF-games.

Post-game dungeon

I just finished Pitioss dungeon which is platforming only. Did it blind and took me 4 hours, got my black hood and genji gloves. I never believed this dungeon would be so hardcore but SE really made it legit. Controls could be just a bit tighter but it's not the reason why this dungeon is so difficult, animations killed me few times but that's not too bad either. Anyone else done this?

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Tabata was a mistake.

I'm currently level 33 and on chapter 3 still, just doing side quests and exploration, when does the map open up so you're able to explore 100% of it??

Post-game SPOILERS (I guess)

Finally completed Menace Beneath Lucis sealed dungeons questline. Wow, what a ride. I completed the main quest at 42h and now after plat and sealed dungeons I'm at 89h. In my opinion sealed dungeons questline shows the worst in the game and flaws become very apparent but it is also the best sidequest experience in the game. It all comes down to the final sealed dungoen, Costlemark lvl 99 no item dungeon. Everything you do prior reaching Costlemark is essentially only preparation to the final challenge. I learned/had to learn so much about the game to make this challenge possible and one by one I collected the individual pieces. On paper Costlemark sounds ridiculous but with thorough preparation it is not unfair at all and I completed it on my first try (normal difficulty, active), actually I think it is the only place in the game where combat is meaningfull. I highly recommend at least trying this dungeon.

What now? Well I got few unfinished quests and quite a lot of hunts, there is no difficulty anymore though. I'll complete those, do some Angelus grinding while waiting for updates and patches.

5% huh? that explains why i had to kill that giant bird 20 times for its feather

I had to do the Pitioss Ruins dungeon twice tonight, because I forgot to save after the first time and when I tried to take off in the car, it instantly hit the rock in front of the runway (because why not place it there) and there was no auto save after finishing the dungeon. I think first run took about 2 hours to finish. 2nd run took probably 45 or so minutes. Why they felt the need to make a platforming centric dungeon is beyond me. Precise movement and jumping is just not possible in this game. It's garbage. Jumping has no rhyme or reason to how far it will go, and if you so much as slightly touch the control stick to readjust Noct, he'll either go in the wrong direction while trying to make a terrible attempt at turning around or take way too many steps.

That being said, if the controls were better, I think the dungeon would have been great because I think the design of it, except for maybe the extended slope platforms part, is really cool.

Don't know what's the drop % for the feather but I had to kill the bird like 4-5 times. 20 times for you...I feel ya
