Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Change Nintendo's marketing?

Set off a bunch of explosions and have the band Queen playing in the background. That always works.

*clap* This guy gets it!!

Great marketing leads to great sales.

They've obviously done something right with the Breath of the Wild and Switch reveals.

Additionally, the marketing for Pokemon throughout the year has been good. Pokemon Sun and Moon and the back catalog are legging out really well.

FE Fates crushed the predecessor in sales.

3DS sales overall have been pretty strong for the year.

I think they're showing us that when they have something great - they're now better able to really sell it to people. If only they had that skill in 2014 instead of 2016/2017....

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Or better yet in 2012/2013. -_-

What do you mean by that?

Nintendo's marketing this past gen has been, as we all know, either shotily executed or non-existent.

What they need to do is to be more in your face when marketing their new games and hardware, like in the old days.

Instead they've done stuff like this. -_-

Not to mention it was less frequent as time went on.

I remember when Nintendo commercials were everywhere, and they even advertised in movie theaters. Yes they're doing it more that way now, but they need to crank it up to 11 in that regard.

What else should Nintendo do to get their marketing back on track?

Notice the differnce is....

In the past the games spoke for the system, not the otherway around.

They just need to make sure their system has a wealth of damn good software, and market the software instead of the console unit.

Only Pokemon, NES, and Wii ever had great marketing.

The Switch teaser and their efforts this year with mobile have been nothing short of excellent. Keep in mind, Wii U and 3DS are no longer a priority. They have a much more important thing with Switch now, and their mobile plan is meant to put them back in the public consciousness, and feeding into the Switch plan.

Given the number of 3DS commercials I have seen I would say it is still to some level a priority. But the Wii U and surprisingly the NES Classic are definitely not priorities given how little Nintendo has done this year for them.

Well, I recently saw the Switch demonstration on Jimmy Fallon, and I can honestly say it's a step in the right direction for Nintendo. They need to do more elaborate publicity stunts like that. :)
