Good riddance. The ass almost started nuclear world war and mass extinction. Good thing Russians didn't listen to him or we'd all be dead.

He didn't actually have nukes of his own to start a war with and I'm absolutely sure the whole of history remembers that the Russians put them there in the first place to have an advantage on the US.

Wasn't that in response to the United States setting up nukes in Turkey? Anyway thank god it ended peacefully.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Yes.  that is correct.  The US and Russia used other countries as proxies for the cold war game.

RIP

The only people on my facebook feed saying good things about castro are my old, very left leaning history teachers whom, based on what i am seeing, hate dictorship only when it comes from the right.

EDIT: Also people who lived in cuba always say its shit, yet left-wing people in places like neogaf try to spin that this guys are somewhat better than the "other" dictators. Is this lack of self awareness or just hypocrisy?

Everyone becomes a saint once they die.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Communism is a nice theory on paper and probably can work alright in small groups, but I don't see it working in a modern world with a large population. There's too many inefficiencies and problems that arise.

Some form of a well regulated free market with solid social programs for citizens along with a democratic setup works best.

Maybe some version of it in a Star Trek like future where humanity is more invested in space travel and we have things like replicators, we'll have a post-capitalist world, but that's probably a few hundred years off.

As long as we need people to work,comunism/socialism will never be viable. We need people of different "casts" doing jobs of different levels. In other words,we need innequality so some people are forced to work in things they wouldn't if they had other choices.

Do you think  european countries are accepting muslims because they are nice? they are basically importing poor people because in places like sweeden "their" people is just too educated to accept "shitty" jobs, so you need to import those who will.

In the the future, when everything could be done via computers, AI and robots maybe we can reach full equality because then our society will be based on robots slavery and comunism will become viable.

Yes in the future, we're probably looking at a post-job society as well. Robots and computers will be able to do most jobs but even more than that, if they ever develop something like replicator (which I think 3D printing is kind of like the first baby steps towards), that would also be a monumental game changer. Imagine just being able to order whatever food you want from a replicator which can create that by manipulating molecules. Bye bye restaurants and grocery stores and farming in general.

Too bad the country isn't in chaos so that they can change to a democracy, what a shame ...

like in Syria

Syria is a complete mess. Absolute disaster. I feel horrible for anyone who has to experience the war over there, especially the ones still living in Syria

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

We don't need castes or classes or anything. Examples have shown us communism, socialism or other classless societies can exist. It's a sociological construct, not a social law.
