How is it confirmed?

When multiple rumours point to the same info, it gains a lot of strenght. Doesn't make it confirmed, though. Only Nintendo can do that.

Or it just means that online stores need to open the pre-orders (it's already late compared to the release of the console), and they just align their price to the kinda appropriate price already used by other online stores. I don't even think it's a rumor, just a normal commercial move.

This $250 announcement, if it holds out, almost reminds me of the $100 advantage the PS4 had over the xbox1 in their announcements. The price alone can do much of the heavy lifting for selling the console.

$250 is ok by me, that's the upper ceiling imo, any higher and it would be too expensive. $200 would be preferable, but considering NEW 3DS XL still costs $200 that will never happen.

Corrected...

I guess that Nintendo will cut its price after switch release, I think  by 50$...

They would like to do the same with wii u to a greater extend but they can't and aren't willing to,  since they will lose money due to expensive component ( tablet controller ? ) , that's why they are discontinuing it early.

Good, $249 is great price for Switch.

Didn't GAME already state £199 for basic system and £249 with bundled game and extra storage?

Definitely looking like the right price range.

Perfect price if real

I was expecting at least a $299 price tag so $249 would be pretty amazing really. Will be a lovely day 1 purchase :).

€249 with a WiiU remaster in bundle could be a winner deal

At that price it basically has to sell well. The 3ds was 250$ for a majority of it's lifespan and it's much less powerful and versatile than this.

Which country are you talking about? Because I'm pretty sure that was the launch price that was reduced just a few months after the release due to bad sales.

Nintendo got the price just right.Man, ther price couldnt be better(I mean, it always could be cheaper, but taking all things into consideration, its perfect). Not only that, Switch could very well have a deal at black friday that year that pushes the price down to 200 to those persons that dont want to spend 250.Switch success seems more and more likely.

That is funny since there are sooo many things that can't be taken into the consideration right now.

How powerful is the device? How is the battery life? How much flash memory will the $250 model have? Does it come with a game? Which accessories are included? How expensive are the accessories that aren't included? Will the Switch have a subscription model for online? Will there be cross-buy or at least a price reduction for VC games, 3DS and Wii U games that you already bought digitally for another Nintendo system?...

Well, it is more in a reference of what we know/ the rumors we have read. For a hybrid system that is close enough in power to the other systems so that Bethesda considers porting its games to it, and TEdd(the CEO) talk so well about it, NVidia partnership and for once, a modern infrastructure, todays rumor about battery life and so on, and everything else, 250 dollars seems like an excellent price.Yes, there are still many unknows, but it all points to a good system in a really affordable price.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
