Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo registers trademark for Wave Race in Europe

A new trademark for Wave Race has surfaced in Europe. Nintendo filed for the name today, and it was published with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Now, before we jump to conclusions, it’s important to note that this doesn’t necessarily mean a new Wave Race game is in the works. It’d certainly be nice, but trademarks aren’t always indicative of upcoming announcements. The trademark could be a protective measure on Nintendo’s part. Only time will tell if there’s any additional meaning here.

It's incredible the amount of IPs that Nintendo has without active using. Wave Race, the ExciteWhatever series, 1080º Snowboarding, Ice Climber, Punch Out!!, Balloon Fight, F-Zero, Metroid (kind of), Earthbound, Endless Ocean, Hotel Dusk, The Wars Series, Golden Sun and countless others. Man, they really need to bring some of them back in an active way.

That's why it's important for Nintendo to hire  massive ammounts of developers in the next years, Also I've been saying for ages that Nintendo should start new development teams outside of Japan, especially in Europe.

Nintendo needs more people to put their dormant IPs in good use.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Yup, Nintendo have a ton of cash and they do nothing with it, and then complain about how much more time it takes to develop HD games.

Nintendo should have expanded more in that regard during the Wii/DS era. Imagine how easy it would have been to buy young dev teams and putting them to work on DS and AA-Wii titles. They would have had time to learn and improve (and maybe make more new IPs) and it would have helped the WiiU-3DS droughts quite a bit.

I wish they would buy Next Level Games and possibly Monster Games and get maybe some stock in Platinum or Tecmo.

The bold were all on the Wii platform, not only that but Excite Trucks and Excite bots were a massive evolution on the original games (Excite Trucks is also one of the only Wii games which allows mp3 playback from sd card during gameplay)

Even the dormant IPs though, they've all been kept alive with appearences in Smash brothers so they're not like other companies when they leave people to rot like poor Blinx and the Brute force team.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I would assume this would be a revival of their old IP rather than something new, if they do indeed use this
