Forums - Sony - PS4 Pro | Future of Play | London | 2-3 November feat. Horizon, Nioh, GT & More

What is it?

Future of Play was a nationwide tour of PSVR around the UK in September and October, culminating today and tomorrow with a meeting hosted by Mark Cerny to showcase specific technical improvements to existing and future PS4 games on the PS4 Pro.

Where/when is it?

Haven't been able to find any specific details but the meeting is scheduled to be held at a venue in London, for the press, some time between 9am GMT (5am EST, 2am PT) on the 2nd of November and 5pm GMT ( on the 1pm EST, 10am PT).

If anyone knows of the exact time, do share.

What is being shown?
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn
  • Days Gone
  • Gran Turismo Sport
  • NIOH
  • Call of Duty: Warfare Infinite

And allegedly more.

Specific PS4 Pro Enhancements

I want to collate the specific technical improvements that PS4 Pro users will see in each game, both for 1080p and 4K screens. It seems like a media dump by the studios involved has already begun with Guerrilla confirming some more details on what we will get out of Horizon. I'll keep the list updated as things are revealed:

Horizon: Zero Dawn

1080p
  • Supersampling
  • Enhanced Shadow Maps
  • Enhanced Anisotropic Filtering
  • HDR
4K
  • 2160p Checkerboard Upscaling
  • HDR

The PS5 Exists.

Ugh... That picture with the pink move bulb...
Do Sony even produce the move anymore? I wonder how long it will take that these are completely useless. Many PSVR games don't require them anyway, right?

Does that mean I would get better results in 1080p on a small 4K HDR tv (43") ?

Also HYPED!

believe it or not Moves are in high demand right now and their value have increased from 10€ to 30€+ in the last weeks

most PSVR games don't require them, but reportedly a lot just feel much better with them

Thanks for the info.

Doubtfull and probably not but you could always limit the resolution output and see what you like better. Checkerboard or enhanced 1080p.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

1080p will also have HDR?? that's really interesting

Yup, just like Xbox One S. But you will still need a 4k TV.

Enhanced only on a Pro of course but for HDR you don't need a Pro - the vanilla PS4 can also output HDR which I think is way more a gamechanger than supersampling or better effects.
