Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch size comparison to WiiU gamepad + N3DS XL

Credit to KingAveryGames on Twitter. Based on estimatimation of 6.2" screen size.

Exact size height of N3DS XL is 9.35 cm or slightly less than 3.7 inches

In the name of science, if someone would please take a hacksaw to the lower, left hand portion of N3DS XL - that will give us a rough approximation of what a Joy-con will really feel like in our hands

Fun fact: the original Gameboy was even smaller. About 9 cm or 3.5 inches wide. So it would seem if you can still hold a Gameboy comfortably in your hands, the Joy-con should be no big deal, just sayin...

Granted the exact shape and thickness will change where your thumbs rest though...

I wish the handles would be bigger. The Wii U gamepad had a pretty nice size.

I also have no idea how I will ever reach the right analog stick when it's basically at the base of my thumb.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Cool comparison. I feel like the Switch should be slightly bigger unless the buttons and thumbsticks on the Switch are smaller. (Just slightly)

Same here - as derpy as the WiiU gamepad looks like, I always found it comfortable. I'm personally less concerned about the Joycons as standalone controllers - and more about the feel of the gamepad/puppy controller.

New Switch XL baby.

Huh, why is the analog stick on the right below the face buttons?
I guess they must be sorta similar when you use them separately in multiplayer?

I think there many concern about the new Nintendo switch controllers. Did you see how small the controllers were in the guys playing NBA 2017. I doubt anyone will ever play games that way.

Wow! That Wiiu gamepad comparison is scary how can they get enough power from something that small??? Remove the controller and that is what house all of the Nintendo Switch processing power.

Yeah so the rounded part would rest in your palms.

Using the right trigger and right stick in the same game will be interesting.

Its smaller than I thought which is great, easier to carry around.
