Forums - Nintendo Discussion - RUMOR: Switch has Touchscreen, More Powerful When Docked, & Mediocre Battery Life

So 'a woman' told them these things? Laura k Buzz has been publicly saying all of this on her twitter. Do they have another diffrent source?
I think Laura is pretty reliable. She leaked several things around the industry (most famously with her ps4 slim rewiew, before it was actualy announced) and they did that crappy drawing of the NX way back on her site LPVG wich was based on a devkit and right on the money.

Well, this is probably info about a dev kit.
The final product can have a better battery life. But dock improving performance should me kept.

That & fan in the dock to cool it could allow some decent overclocking & a somewhat noticeable increase in performance, I guess...

Didn't Nintendo themselves state that the dock was only a placeholder to connect to TV and to charge only?

Yes. Though technically in "dock mode" what could be happening is the NS can run at full or higher clock since battery usage is not an issue. If that's the case then no one is really wrong.

I don't think it will be a huge difference though.

Mediocre battery life is a shame if true, Nintendo told us that the main processing power is in the tablet. The docking station could provide additional power and cooling allowing greater clock speeds, which gives it a boost in power and output a higher resolution or at least locks 720p for every game and 900-1080p for most. I don't expect an extra GPU in the station. Perhaps the docking station also allows extra ram for higher resolution textures and things like 3d/7.1 audio support etc.

I think that is realistic!

I'm sorry to all fans of the device, but this has got to be the worst console unveil of all times. Seriously they didn't give a tech specifications or not even some of the basic information (battery, touchscreen, apps, anything beside "Switching"..)?
I'm intrigued by the console though and would like to know it all in details.

all good news, but...

3h of battery life! That's not mediocre, that's is just bad! almost dismal...

Thats 3 hours brand new, which equals 2.5 hours after 6 months, 2 hours after a year etc.
They better make the Battery user replaceable or else we'll have people that need to recharge the thing after one hours use.
Perhaps its not really a handheld [smile][lol]

Nintendo hasn't given technical specifications for any of their home consoles since the Gamecube. They are always vague.

3 hours of battery life is tragic

Maybe thats why they are marketing as a home console...
