Persona 5 outsold Quantum break in FW, in Japan only vs worldwide

Yet Halo 5 will outsell Persona lifetime in it's first month alone. On a smaller install base as well. 25m xbox one vs ps3 + ps4 install base (about 150 million units). Go figure. Maybe it's best to focus on games that appeal to western audience because that is where the money is. Not Japan.

If you want to shift the numbers in your favor. I can say that Persona 5 will outsell Tomb Raider's Xbox 360 version in Japan alone. 3 millions against 88+ millions with nearly 50 in the USA.

Lol "just 6-7 millions lifetime". Did you know that, with the exception of the UK, this will be much more than the Xbox One will ever sell on the entire european continent ?

The smaller european countries hardly buy games. I can brag about how well Xbox is doing in Latin America (outdoing PS4), but it doesn't mean jack. The reason North America and UK matters a lot more is the software attach ratio is a lot bigger. A lot of those smaller european countries can only afford maybe one game a year. Why do you think Sony released the PS4 first in North America over Japan (their home country).

One last thing,  for what reason would European countries with more GDP per capita than Latin American countries purchase less games than the other ones ?

Comparing a Jap game to another Jap game? Okay. I'm comapring Western Games to Japan Games. Western games outdo Japanese games overall by a large margin the last two generations.

Tomb Raider is a western franchise which had the company purchased by Square Enix. It usually sells  close to 10 millions per game and a Japanese  game would outsell worldwide numbers of the Xbox 360 version, which has  over 45-50 millions of units sold in the USA, in Japan alone.

Dragon Quest Heros, a Spin-off of the Dragon Quest franchise. Sold nearly more on launch in Japan, where they had less than 3 millions of PS4, than Halo 5 did in the USA, where they had 10+ millions of Xbox One.

Call of Duty sold more  from launch to the end of the year than the last Forza did on the USA. We are comparing 2.5-3 millions consoles against 10+ millions.

Dragon Ball sold 3+ millions in 1 year, it is one of the best selling  games of the genre this generation, only losing to Mortal Kombat X.

And, last gen the only game that sold more on the PS3 than Gran Turismo( a Japanese game) was GTA. Gran Turismo sold more on the PS3 than any single Call of Duty game sold in the system.

Lets see how well Final Fantasy will sell worldwide. Dragon Quest sells 4+ Millions per game on Japan alone. Not even Halo manages to sell that much in the USA anymore.

Then get more Japanese games on your system. Things like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts are good to have but it needs more than just those.

You cannot. When Sony is dominating the generation over its hard to procure Japanese titles. The Japanese are mostly cool with exclusivity. Even when the PS3 was around and Microsoft had a fair amount of Japanese games Sony still had more exclusive to their console. No matter what gen, since the Xbox arrived Sony has been the main platform for any person who likes JRPGs.

There's no such thing as they can't do it. There's nothing actually stopping them, no matter who is dominating which generation.

Yeah, Sony as been the main platform for JRPGs but that's because it seems like Microsoft doesn't attempt to even get those games on their system much.

Last generation they at least had a fair shair of games like Lost Odyssey, but this generation it seems like they've done not much so far. Like I said, games like Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, etc are great to have, but it needs more than just those games.

The Xbox One and PS4 are so similar that porting shouldn't cost a lot to do. Even if Microsoft had to pay to get ports of certain Japanese games because the developers maybe think the game might not sell well on there so they want to be paid money just to cover the costs of porting it, I don't think it would cost them a lot. That would be a good way of a start to at least trying to get more Japanese games on the system.

Playstation always had more Japanese games than xbox, Xbox fails to get enough Japanese developers.

Not only has console gaming seen a decline, but dedicated mobile gaming device have also plunged.

Let Nintendo and Sony battle for that market. Its a small region with niche taste not worth fighting for.

It is one of the world's biggest country for consoles. Sony exclusives and multiplataform western games sold more on Japan alone than the games that Microsoft tried to launch in the USA.

Japan is a bigger market than most single countries, but its a market that enjoys games basically just catered to them. While NA and Europe is a massive audience with similar interest in games. Persona 5 is considered a big deal but a game like Forza Horizon 3 will likely outsell it.

The sentence I bolded, that's you grasping at straws. Have you actually looked at the how Sony games sell in Japan? Its very low. The best selling PS4 game in Japan is struggling to crack 500K (MGSV). Uncharted 4, a huge hit in NA and Europe, hasn't hit 200K in Japan. Is that really worth boasting about that? That tells me Japan is really moving away from home consoles.

I really don't wanna have this dumb argument by the way, but Japan simply doesn't matter much in the home console arena and software sales proves that.

As I said.... last gen Microsoft was beating Sony so they were given a fair shake. If Sony is winning just like the ps2 and ps1 era... god help Microsoft with getting through to Japan and even getting core Japanese titles out of third party exclusivity to Sony.

Yeah now you have to bring Halo to win the argument, your best selling franchise on Xbox lol. Only 12 Million PS3s and PS4s are sold in Japan, again it was Japan only and it allready sold more than Quantumbreak FW.

Japan barley sold less consoles than UK but has tons of more devolopers and publishers than UK, so its pretty clear its the second most important market.
