It looks OK. I used to watch the hell out of Power Rangers when I was little so it sorta hits close to home.

Not like that. It was with the actors from the show but then a full movie which seemed like a bigger episode. It looked like they wanted to push it like star trek from tv to a movie franchise. I think it bombed. Not sure though.

Actually, the first ever movie did well considering it had $15 million for its budget. About $66 million from the box office, which is pretty good for the a show that was still in its phenomenon stage at the time. The second movie which was set during the beginning of the 5th season bombed. I know this because I'm a fan of Power Rangers, Super Sentai (where the source material came from), and other tokusatsu shows.

It's havent watched the trailer yet so I'll check it out when I can.

Looks like garbage. If it wasnt labeled Power Rangers then you wouldve never guessed it was a PR movie. Just looks like Breakfastclub + Fantastic 4 with a little bit of Chronicle sprinkled on top

Why is it that teens magically have the power to save the world?

I get things like shonen mangas since 16-20 is usually their prime, but most of the time these teenagers are just brats who always have the same character, face the same drama, and are NEVER EVEN ACTED BY TEENAGERS(usually adults l0l).


Guarantee you they'll pull a Transformers on us and make it 10 minutes of horrible action, 2 minutes of actual cool scenes, and 99% garbage that'll make people fall asleep

I don't care that much about Power Rangers, it's that this money is going to this rather than good original work.  Or shoot, even novel adaptations.  Anything but retreading old ground again and again.

Nothing is original.  Even your "original" movies that come out are just retreads of old tropes repackaged.  I think you're looking at this thing as another remake, and it is, but remakes shouldn't be automatically labelled as retreads.  Or else get off these old tropes like love, action, comedy, etc, and go with... see, all is already been done.
