Definitely gen 7. Wii is better than WiiU. PS3 is better than PS4. PSP is better than PSV. X360 is waaay better than XOne. The only system that might be better generation over generation is 3DS over DS. Sony first party games are less impressive. Xbox first party games are less impressive. "AAA" games in general are less impressive. The good news is that "indies" are arguably of equal quality or maybe better, and Nintendo software is as great as ever.

But, overall, games are getting worse :(

I dont think they are getting worse per se, they are getting more "stale".Take Sony first party line-up for example. While many are excellent, they mostly play safe.Horizon zero dawn seems like an expanded Tomb Raider, Bloodborne is basically Dark Souls, Uncharted 4 is the fourth Uncharted, God of War, while still not released, will go the action adventure road(seems to at least), something thats has been really done alot.

I think there is a lack of new ideas, which is why indies games seem really appealing and Nintendo games are always great, because they always seem fresh.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Home consoles only? So far I am playing Gen 8 a lot more then Gen 7 with the same amount of time owned.

Gen 7 was a travesty, and I played World of Warcraft around 2 or 3 times as much as all Gen 7 combined.

Gen 8 has had some great games already in Dark Souls 3, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, Disgaea 5, Dragon Quest Heroes, Witcher 3, and many others.

I'm hoping we don't have to wait that long *cough cough* The Last Guardian

That's just my point though, a lot of the best games of last gen didn't come out until the second half... but yeah, let's hope The Last Guardian delivers, I wonder how many copies it'd have to sell to make its development budget back after all this time, lol

I'll buy 50 copies just to show Ueda how much I love him.

I played a lot more in gen 7
This gen is a lot more of the same so far, hopefully VR can shake things up a bit.

The start of gen 7 was slower though. First year of 360 I spend more time on PC and first year of ps3 I spend more time with ps2 games than ps3 games.

8 mainly because I didn't have a gen 7 handheld and this gen I got a Wii U and a 2DS

I don't think in generations. Every year since the '80s had more than enough good games to keep me happy.

7 of course. This gen is atrocious.

I`ve also spent a pretty significant portion of my gaming time since the start of gen 8 on gen 7 games still.

Ditto. I've spent more time on Wii and 360 this gen than any of the 8th gen platforms.

Gen 7. Its been some great games this gen, but the last one was just filled with so much variety.

Gen 7. Viva la Wii!
