Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why there's no love for Yokai Watch?

Have you played it?

I have played YW1 and I'm picking up YW2 13 15.12%

I have played YW1 but I'm skipping YW2 4 4.65%

I have played YW1, it's rubbish. 14 16.28%

I've never played it and I don't care 55 63.95%

Total:86

I haven't played these games, but it seems to me that if you didn't grow up with Japanese children shows, then a lot of it wont really appeal to you.

I'd probably like it if I was 4-12. Otherwise it just feels unappealing.

I'll prefer Pokemon or Shin Megami Tensei tbh

edit; another problem is the concept of yokai in the first place. My 4 year old cousin said she loved yokai, yet she couldn't even explain what they were.

Unlike Pokemon, yokai watch has a major appeal to Japan. You don't need context to know that Charizard is a badass fire-breathing lizard, or that Mewtwo is that punk who'll take your lunch money. On the other hand, you wonder what the hell some of the Yokai are based on.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Why play not-Pokemon when I can play Pokemon?

Yokai Watch is too Japanesey for the a western audience. Everybody regardless of cultural difference likes the idea of training a salamander to become a dragon. Now, how many cultures find a nose monster interesting?

They can't. In the US, it airs on Disney XD. A station that most people don't care to have.

You answered it. Should have been on Cartoon network. Who watched Disney or Disney XD?

Putting it on CN wouldn't even be better. CN would throw YW in their morning schedule where no kids are awake. CN barely advertise Pokemon anymore so them having YW would be worse. Not to mention CN likes to give their own shows multiple reruns through the day where partner based shows get like one episode.

All CN plays all day long is fucking Teen Titans Go, which is garbage. I'd watch pretty much anything over that.

I've heard to is a vast improvement on the first game, which i had a mild interest in, so i'll probably pick it up in a couple of months.

I´m going to answer the quesion with my 3DS :)

I love Yokai Watch :D

Can´t wait for Yokai 2 >.<

Because Pokemon is simply better.

Those little spirits of nature, that inhabitate everything..... thats very "asian".
Which is why I suspect it hasnt caught on in the rest of the world like it did in japan.
