Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 and PSTV

Sony really short changed the PSTV when it had so much potential.  But I've heard a few here who have used their PSTV remotely with their PS4, and depending on the game it works real well. You can almost get the PSTV for next to nothing now.  So would it be a good idea for Sony to have a PS4/PSTV bundle?

No, just sell it as an accessory if at all. They probably don't even produce them anymore.

Its not a terrible device because its great for playing some Vita, PS1, PSP content, and ofcourse streaming PS4. But the streaming apps it offers is pitful so it lacks mainstream appeal.

If Sony would have worked with Netflix to update the app to work with the thing, and brought PlayStation Vue to PSTV and PS Vita, then the whole Vita line would be in a much better position. How they broght out a product called PlayStation TV and did not heavily tie PlayStation Vue to it is easily one of the stupidest things they have ever done.

Since the PSTV can not access Netflix or PlayStation Vue I don't think it would be a smart bundle. It would probably just end up pissing people off, and causing a shit storm that they don't need.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Throwing a PSTV in for free would be a no brainer.  But I wonder if Sony can get away with charging an extra $20 with the PSTV included while marketing it as a "Remote Play" bundle.

Yea, the PSTV was one of Sony's biggest missed oppurtunities of this gen.  It really could have been a big competitor in the streaming box market.  Vita/PSP games + PS Classics + Streaming PS4 games + PS Vue + All the popular streaming apps = A great product and value for the price.  Instead it's only really worth picking up for $20-$30 to stream PS4 games to a different TV and play a few Vita/Classic games.

I don't think it even has ps vue which is beyond stupid.

I am on the other side of my sig....am I warm or cold?

Marco....

There's too much input lag to make PS4 streaming on PSTV viable. It's actually worse than a standard Vita.

By the way, the PS TV was discontinued early in 2016.

Sony isn't trying to get more on the market, its dead.

Yeah I got my PSTV for $30. I play some of my Vita games on the TV sometimes which is kinda neat. Definitely would not pay any more for it though. And this is what the Nintendo NX supposedly will do. Sony proved there is next to no demand for this kind of device. Good luck Nintendo.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Nope, not even close.

1. PS TV and Vita are not a hybrid device, they are separate devices.

2. The Vita TV/PS TV came years after Vita and doesn't support much of the Vita library.

3. NX is going to be the focus of Nintendo 1st party, while Vita received half assed 1st party games. It didn't even get a Gran Turismo.

4. NX is being built as a hybrid console, Sony never did that.
