Low frame rates are among the main reasons why I buy my games on PC rather than consoles, looks like they want to maintain tradition. I'll take solid frame rates over higher res any day of the week. I went 1440p on my rig for the sake of high fps rather than 4k with low to zero pp effects enabled.

Who exactly are they aiming this at? 4k TV's aren't even that common yet, and visual enthusiasts are usually rather picky, meaning that low fps could mean no sale, I know that's the case for me at least.

I think both Sony and MS jumped the 4K gun. I only know two people who have 4K TVs and they are both low end 4K TVs with no HDR, low hertz etc. Seems the whole industry is pushing for 4K when the content is just not there yet. Alot of  broadcasts aren't even 1080P...

There's a start to everything. 4K is in its enfancy. They're not going to wait for everyone to ask for it before delivering those products. Good products create demands because people usually don't know what they want until it is shown to them.

4k Pong should look more blocky.

Consumers  have to demand such content for it to proliferate. Bring products that can take advantage of such content, and you can be sure there's be more and more over time.

I don't particularly think 1080P had fully blossomed yet though. Seems like a big push for 4K by TV companies, streaming services etc so they can have bigger profit margins as full HD has plateaued. Some companies have already showcased 8K TV prototypes lol.

To be fair she didn't say that they will run natively 4k on Xbox. As we know all MS developed games will also run on PC. So it's factual that all games developed by Microsoft in the Scorpio time frame will be able to be rendered at 4k.

People read too much into these things.

I actually own a high-end, HDR capable 4k TV myself, but there's little to nothing available that puts it to good use. I never considered another 1080p TV though, since 4k is coming and is bound to grow a lot in the coming years.

I think you're right on jumping the gun; my 4000$ rig from last year can't really play games properly in 4k, consoles are still years away from accomplishing this feat at anywhere near acceptable frame rates, especially at an affordable, mainstream friendly price. Heck; only a small number of enthusiast PC gamers can pull off proper 4k gaming for now, it just takes so much brute force, especially with any kind of effects enabled.

They have trouble making games running at 1080p on their 1080p console. So I also have my doubts when they claim all their games will run natively in 4K on the Scorpio. xD

Lol I think it is heavily implied that she meant Scorpio games. Games before the Scorpio(Gears 4) will run at 4K on PC so why would she make a statement in regards to future first party PC games coming out a year later?

Because people like all the comments above me will gobble it up like this?

Which is why they don't claim it.

"Any games we're making that we're launching in the Scorpio time frame, we're making sure they can natively render at 4K."

No mention of how they will run on Xbox whatsoever.

Possibly but I don't think that's the case. Alot of people will be pissed off if they flip-flopped a year later and said "Oh we meant when you play Scorpio games on PC!". But we will find out in time :)
