Forums - Gaming Discussion - The PS4 Pro event made me realise something.

My view: Yesterday's event was boring, dull and uninspired.
Nintendo Direct: Generally exciting, and inspired.
Sony E3 presentation the last two or maybe three years: Better than above 2 in terms of excitement, presentation, quality and quantity.

Agree with all 3.

In their defense, I don't think they treated yesterday's Meeting as a game conference. Naturally, it'd be different than E3s.

It was called a Meeting for a reason, not an event or show

Well said.  This wasn't meant to be a fun event.  That's what e3,  pgw,  tgs and psx are for.  This was a sincere event to show off the new hardware.

Comparing it to a fun direct is ridiculous.  How about you compare the directs to the game events and then compare the number of titles shown for Nintendo vs Sony.  You won't be dissapointed then.

This was their showcasing of updated hardware, NX's showing is coming up. Not really all that different beyond Nintendo's will be vastly more entertaining.

I figured they kept SOMETHING that would really showcase the new tech, mostly thinking a new game that would be coming to the OG PS4, but would be seen for the first time on the Pro. Was disappointed.

Dont really care about the showcasing of new tech - I just want a new game announcement!

Lol, well they are trying to get this new hardware out the door. Just figured they'd go hand in hand.

Mark Cerny dang near put me to sleep yesterday. He just droned on an on with that soft voice of his. Nintendo's Directs are definitely more interesting to watch.

It was pretty unprecedented. ;P

It maybe that it was not meant to be conference, but you can still present information better and still cause excitement. Presentation is still a presentation. I think the choice in who they had was not as great as well as the companies they chose to share the stage.

That's what happens when you spread your announcements on 6 conferences per year (E3, Tokyo Game Show, PGW/Gamescom, PlayStation Experience, The Game Awards, GDC). Playstation Meetings are about hardware and the future of the PS brand and Playstation Experiences are about software. One is for consumers and the other for gamers.

That's true.

More entertaining for you but personally I enjoyed this more.  Straight to thr point,  no BS and gave me all the info I needed.

Compare the ps4 reveal to the NX reveal not this.  Dont compare apples with oranges.  The ps4 reveals were all entertaining back in 2013.

It wasn't really to the point though. The Scorpio's reveal was to the point. This reveal  was a droning mess. Also, people were already saying that Nintendo "needed to go back to the drawing board" due to this announcement. And people are putting their two cents in, as they are in this thread including you. So there is a bit more similarity between these than apples and oranges.
