Looks quite a bit better in that natural sunlight. Good reference photo with the original PS4 in there for scale.

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it. It maintains the same angles and simply fillets the sharp corners of the original design. It loses maybe 20mm in width and depth and a fair amount on the height, which is nice for those who stack their consoles sideways.

The only thing it loses is the admittedly nice accent status light strip and the shiny HDD cover panel.

16mm off width

27mm off depth

15mm off height

Interesting they took the most off the depth. That is beneficial for shallower shelves; I've kept a PS4 on a bookshelf for the past year.

If I remember correctly, the PS3 slim actually made the depth deeper than the original model despite getting a substantial height cut and width cut, which struck me as a bit odd. Never actually bought one. Had two of the original and one of the el cheapo super slims as an extra player.

I think the slim did have more depth. I had to downgrade to it when my PS3 burnt out. Just measuring it now the top is 290mm x 290mm while the top of the PS3 OG was more rectangle.

For comparison the top of PS4 and its Slim is 275 x 273 and 259 x 246 respectively. The depth of the top side is not the overall depth if you square off the shape it sticks out 33mm more while the Slim sticks out 22mm more.

Does any of the documentation mention the name Slim at all? Looks like it'll just be called PS4 and replace the current one, for the sake of reducing confusion (PS4 + PS4 Slim + PS4 Neo VS just PS4 + PS4 Neo)

I could be wrong but the never label the console as a slim on the packaging. Retailers might list it as a Slim though.

Have anyone calculated the reduction in % to compare to XOneS?

275x305x53 ps4 246x278x38 ps4 slim??? from the pics we got... this would give us 42% volume reduction... so still a bigger reduction than the X1 to X1Slim, crazy isn't it?

X1S 310x240x61mm vs PS4 og 305x275x53 PS4 is 2% smaller yet.

But when against PS4S it gets a big difference of PS4S being 43% smaller than the X1S

Those dimensions for the volume are wrong. I made a thread about this already
