So the next Dragon Quest, DQXI, is for 3DS, PS4, and NX, confirmed. Sounds like each version kinda runs on its own engine:

Masahiro Sakurai: Well then, I would like to ask about each of your new games. First, Dragon Quest XI. The 11th installment in the series will be released simultaneously on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4, and including NX it’s coming out on three platforms, right?

Yuji Horii: That’s right. The use of hardware is different for each system, so it’s quite a challenge.

Horii: That’s right. There are a lot of difficulties because of that. Each one has a different look to it, and there’s also a PlayStation 4 version, so if we make a small fix then we have to fix it across every version.

So now officially, the NX's confirmed game list is Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dragon Quest XI, Dragon Quest X, Sonic, and Just Dance.

Good News: DQXI on NX is a go. That's great news actually.

Bad News: It doesn't sound like its a port of the PS4 version (or 3DS version) ... but that may indicate the NX does not have the hardware power to port the PS4 build.

Hmm WHAT??
"The use of hardware is different for each system, so it’s quite a challenge."
Wonder if this means that the NX isn't just running a downgraded PS4 version. Maybe he just means the architecture is different making it more difficult to develop for the NX version then what porting a PS4 game to PC/XBO would be.

Starting to think NX is basically just a souped up Wii U level of performance. Would be a bit dissapointing since I think they can do more with mobile tech than that, but oh well. I think Nintendo is going to go hard after mobile/tablet gamers with the NX, it's not meant to compete with the PS4/XB1.

It could mean that the NX version is higher spec than the PS4 version, and the PS4 version has to get dumbed down as well. We don't know anything yet.

It could mean that the NX version is higher spec than the PS4 version, and the PS4 version has to get dumbed down as well. We don't know anything yet.

Yeah I'd love for that to be the case, but I don't think so, heh. MCV's source said between a PS3 and PS4, so that could mean more like a PS3 in raw horsepower with some tricks/more modern architecture to maybe "sell" the look of PS4-ish graphics in some situations.

Great news.But as people pointed out, the different versions part is troubling.While it may mean that it is a better PS4 version, it could also be the oposite.Or maybe could be a version that takes advantage of the NX new features.Reveal this damn thing Nintendo!!!!!

But all in all, its great.NX is already looking to have a good first year without the system being announced!

This makes me very happy if it means Ninty isn't yielding to the pressure of just doing another PS4/XBOne. Fingers crossed for something completely different.
