Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Gears of War 4 (PC) - 4K Gameplay Debut

I hate to be "that guy", but compared to the E3 2015 footage, which features some of the same/similar scenes, the lighting looks much more bland and flat now.

For the PC people:

surely a quad core amd cpu will suffice for 720p, right?

Should be fine with CPU settings turned down. The game is likely to be GPU heavy anyway.
I am sure someone will do some tests on a myriad of CPU's though if you wish to hold out.

What I find to be extremely strange is that the game requires not the initial version of Windows 10 but it specifically states that it requires the Anniversary Update which has some extremely important DX12 improvements (Shader Model 6!) ...

Could this be the first game to field the new shading language and the new shader compiler which is still in beta ?

looks fantastic

80GB? Hopefully its not that big on xb1

The game will probably be around 50GB at launch but once all the DLC is out it will be around 80GB.

It's using the Unreal Engine 4, can't find any specific info on the engine support for HLSL/Shader Model 6.0, but there is a good chance that's a very real possibility.
Gears of War typically always used the latest fork of the Unreal Engine.

On the bright side though, we know the engine is very scalable. :)

I'm not going to watch anymore campaign gameplay. It's already a must buy.

Needs a little more work on the console side though if FF VIIR and ARK are anything to go buy ...

Why are they showing a 4k game on the Xbox channel? It should be on a Windows10 channel.

The PS5 Exists.

Their whole goal is to integrate Xbox and Windows 10, that's why in order to play Windows 10 store games, you have to open them up through the Xbox app. I assume that is why it's on the Xbox channel.

But the XB1 can't do 4K. It's misleading. And they even finish the video with 'XB1s, starting at $299'. That is deliberately misleading.
