Forums - PC Discussion - No Man's Sky on PC runs like a game developed by ubisoft.

Well palyed another 4 hours or so, and beyond the anoying not being able to alt-tab, I do notice that all of a sudden around 3 1/2 to 4 hour of playign the game all of sudden goes into super slow mode.

All I have to do is quit and turn it back on, but anoying none the less. Guessing its not clearing the ram storage or something. Didn't open up control panel to check, but that's my guess.

I can imagine that this was only a late port of the PS4 version without optimization.
Main focus of the developers was to release this game on PS4.

Least they are doing something about it. They might have most issues fixed by monday provided they work very hard. If they fix all the major issues, it will still have hope to be the definitive experience on PC with unlocked framerate and 4k res.

"No Man's Sky Support
Whilst many people are enjoying No Man's Sky, we are tracking several issues, and we’re working hard to resolve them as quickly as possible.

1. We have updated our support page with some common issues and workarounds http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/pc-support/
2. We have updated the auto response from support@hellogames.co.uk to help suggest common fixes, and help gather better info
3. We have filed tickets for everyone who has mailed support and are responding to them in turn.
4. We have gotten back to a lot of people already, who were trying to run the game significantly below min spec.
5. Additionally your bug reports have shown us a handful of key issues we are working to resolve

We’re pulling an all nighter to get through as many issues as soon as possible. Please try to be nice :)

We have been working to get back to people on our three most common crashes on start up:
• Running the game with an Intel card. This is not supported
• No Man's Sky is an OpenGL 4.5 game, and requires latest drivers on most cards, please update
• VC++ Redist 2010 was not included by default. We have updated in a patch, please restart

We are going to create an experimental branch with hot fixes for these most common known issues:
• Shader Cache issue – means that framerate is initially stuttering on some cards. Whilst it resolves itself over time (~1 hour of play), we will fix this issue in a patch.
• SSE 4 – for CPUs that do not support SSE 4, it is causing the game to crash on boot (some of these area technically below min spec, but we don’t want it to crash!)
• Mouse controls jitter on foot – this caused by a combination of certain resolution and GFX card. A fix is in progress.

Some players who have filed a support ticket will begin to be directed towards the experimental branch whilst we test solutions to these issues.

If your issues are not listed above please do mail support@hellogames.co.uk"

Practically every game was developed on PC. Care to elaborate and/or provide a source for your claim?

Uncharted 4 was developed on a PC but it doesn't even boot when I insert the disc in my computer :-/

Yes, that's exactly the reason I was wondering about what his point was and if he actually meant e.g. that the main platform of the game was PC.

Lol I like how Ubisoft have become a slang term for badly optimized.

Can I assume this is bad? Lol.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

So Nvidia released a driver update for No Man's Sky and it fixed most of the performance issues I was having like the hitching but your mileage may vary.

The issue isn't so much focus on the PS4 version, but developing games for PC. Or why was it that XRebirth or Xcom2 had many problems at start? Because they were console focused? But people don't wanna hear that. Better way to accept the situation by saying Sony is the culprit.

Because console games have been objectively perfect for years on end and never had issues, it's only PC that has issues up the arse.

In preference to sophism, to keep shut would've been the better option.

In comparison consoles do have "far less" issues, resp. problem solving is less complex, due to homogenenous nature of console hardware. And reverting to stating basics just proves my point. Blissful ignorance. You people revel in it.

I mentioned Xcom2.

"Talking with Alec Meer over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun, lead designer Jake Solomon says the developer was caught off-guard by the onslaught of issues affecting the game on release."

“Maybe this is damning on me, but I’m sitting here talking to you now on the laptop I use to play it on,” explained Solomon, “and I didn’t see these issues. We didn’t catch this stuff in compatibility testing. We’re fully, fully accountable for the product in people’s hands, so we certainly take responsibility for it.”
