Forums - Gaming Discussion - Another game with no reviews out on launch day

That is actually good news because no one had the day one edition of this game with all the changes. The version some had was incomplete.

This means publications are actually bothering to play the game before spewing some nonsense.

If you care buy it. If you don't then be patient and wait for properly informed reviews to come out. All you'd have today would be a barrel of misinformation.

More and more games launch and there's no review of the game out. Troublesome development in this gen.

I was gonna get No Man's Sky today depending on the reviews, but now I won't, especially seeing the user score on MC. But I'm looking for some opinions on the game from more credible places.

Is there any non-biased youtube review out there yet?

Do you know why there's a trend of no reviews before launch? Because the publishers figured out they could exploit the use of the internet. They found out that they could ship a game that wasn't complete, tell reviewers about and knew that these huge websites like IGN would hold back because they don't want to get egg on their faces.

It was all contrived and a scam from the start. People don't care though... they just buy the games blindly anyway. All you can do is choose to be an intelligent consumer and wait a week or two before making the plunge.

I'm sure they can't embargo reviews after release.

They can, and have done so before, with rewiews based on codes/copys they provided before launch. Assassins creed unity for example, was famously embargoed until after initial release day.

They can't do anything about people who bought the game on launch day, or otherwise got their hands on an early copy (by retailers breaking street date for example), but those are not going to be in deph rewiews.

It is a strange one. Probably HG want reviewers to review the game with the massive patch. The even publicly said to not trust pre-patch reviews. That said they should of had a patched version ready for reviewers in time to review before launch.

You shouldnt let user critics discourage you from purchasing a game. For an example , many people have said FFXIII was downright horrible and unplayable (in the form of not fun, etc) - but I played it and enjoyed it despite icy cold reviews.

But then again in Japan it got 10s left and right. If you know you're a confirmed weeaboo, you shouldn't be reading western reviews in the first place.

I haven't played a lot yet because of work but I died right away which amused me because I saw a lot of people say its a boring explore only game for awhile and I go and get killed very shortly after the start.

edit: that patch they released for launch was pretty comprehensive as far as the notes show so that and the fact the game is not a quick game might have something to do with reviews more than an embargo.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

This particular game strikes me as being of a kind that reviews are worthless for until two weeks of playing. The real question with this game isn't if it's initially awesome, but whether or not it grows stale quickly or remains intriguing.

I loved FF XIII.

I didn't. Loved XIII-2 though. So there's that.

OT: It's 2016, not hard to find a stream of a game you're looking to buy and make a decision for yourself based off raw gameplay footage if you need other people to help make decisions for you.

Actually glad there's no reviewer for this game, keeps an aura of mystique surrounding it. I means they're so many gameplay videos out but I don't really want a review to explain all the nuts and bolts of the experience.

I like what I see and early responses have been mostly positive so i'mma pick this up as soon as I get a Neo. Hoping more ambitious AA budgeted games hit the market.

Lol Jim Stelring gave it a 5

Average Meta is 67

Glad I didn't buy the limited edition I had on order, maybe on a steam sale sometime.

Just wait a day or two for a review.
Usually Gamespot has a review in progress after a day or so.
