They have basically shipped an unfinished game.

No they haven't. This game is designed to keep on growing and this is the first part of that growth. They've been working on this for a month and clearly realised they could get it ready for the launch and so advised reviewer to wait so that they truly reflected the game + update 1. Update 2 is in the works already and includes base building, owning freighters and other graphic fixes. There will be more updates to follow in the coming months and years.

Minecraft got 93/100 at launch and is still getting updates. Are you suggesting that they should have delayed the game until now?

That...seems like it makes quite a few fundamental changes to the game, as well as suggesting a few interesting tidbits to boot (different stories and there being a story in the first place!). Wednesday should be very fun indeed...

I was hoping Hello Games would put the updates out without patch notes but I can see why they've done it.
