Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So I think it's pretty safe to assume Nintendo will NOT be revealing NX live at TGS 2016

If you look at the exhibitors list here: http://wccftech.com/nintendo-nx-not-revealed-tgs-2016/ you will notice Nintendo is not currently on it. And I highly doubt if they were going to unveil something as big as a new console they wouldn't have already been on the list, which pretty much is leading to Nintendo not showing it off there. Not to say they couldn't do a direct the same day, or around that event, but we know there will not be this big live reveal with an audience. And if I'm not mistaken, TGS is the last big event for gaming before the NX releases correct?... So we are looking at a Direct reveal, how does everyone here feel about that? Is it a good thing?... Bad?... Am I wrong and there is another big gaming event before March 2017 they could show it?

What are your thoughts?

Nintendo never does TGS, and usually companies who reveal hardware do it at their own press events. Putting them around E3 or TGS doesn't usually go very well.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

OMG I'm sooooo surprised O_0 /s

Eh, no doubt, but when they announced NX would not be at E3, a lot of people assumed they would wait for TGS. I personally think it's a very smart idea to do a direct personally.

Beyond that, a lot of people were anticipating the announcement mid Sep reveal if they did do a direct.

This pretty much destroys both theories.

Nintendo will just have their own press event, probably in September. Not really a big deal.

To me it's been clear they are going to do their own event on their own terms when they basically opted to skip E3, which is a far bigger show than TGS.

So the rumored September reveal has another date crossed off the chart. That leaves late august at earliest and late October/early November at latest I would guess... Cant see them revealing it later than that.

No. Think of the latest you would think they could possibly reveal it...and then add a month.

Why is a September reveal out? They likely never were going to TGS as Nintendo rarely has anything to do with that show.

They could still have their own event.

I never said that, a said a date(TGS date). I seriously doubt they will have their own event on the same date as TGS. I am in your camp, I think it would make most sense for them to have their own event when all eyes are on them and that is not on the TGS date.

Its announced a couple days before.

But then doesn't it run the risk of its hype being steamrolled by what's shown at tgs? And if it's shown too soon after it runs the risk of completely ruining hype for the people who expect it to run games that look similar to what's out now? It's E3 all over again.

Personally, I would make a direct with the hardware and a few select titles that shows NX's capabilities this month and announce a software blowout in oct. Ride the storm through tgs.
