Forums - Music Discussion - Britney Spears announces her 9th Studio Album

She's never been a great singer, lets be honest, out of the late 90s girl pop craze, she possibly has the worst vocals (Cristina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore), but she was able to be successful in the 2000s by choosing good producers and making dance friendly tunes and pushing the sex appeal angle.

It's tough to maintain that though as the 2010s dawned more "quirky" dance pop acts like Lady GaGa and now Sia have become more popular and then of course as time always does you have the younger Taylor Swifts and Ariana Grandes and what not coming on up.

Even Beyonce, I mean you look at her early stuff compared to what's on Lemonade and it's a huge evolution, Britney still kinda sounds like she's in 2004.

Still I don't dislike Britney, lets be honest, she's made more money than she'll ever be able to spend anyway and she's taken a more limited skill set and still had a hell of a career. I remember in the late 90s a lot of people though her career would be over in 3-4 years, but she actually out lasted Cristina and Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore.

I think Black Out is her best album, lots of good singles, but I don't think it was promoted as it should have been because of whatever personal issues she was dealing with. That hurt her career I think.
