Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One S Review ( The Verge )

All the conversation about the power brick reminds me, on xbox360 days, on a Greek site the xbox fanboys there saying MS has the power brick out because if you have it inside the console overheat!!! YEAH and those who say that now have a gaming site and making reviews ahhhh.. those days.....

wat

yeah having an integrated PSU has a grand total of zero advantage...

on the other hands it has a shit ton of major design flows...

1 it is the most likely component to fail and if you are a collector it will fail before the rest it shouldn't warrant a brand new purchase when you could just buy a new PSU for $20...

2 It is also a big heat generator, encasing it with the rest is greatly increasing the risk of failure....

3 if you move around the world like I do and have to change PSU to fit local power requirements, switching a $20 bucks PSU is more cost efficient than buying a new console...

so 0-3 =-3 advantages... So yeah even if by some miracle you could find one advantage you'd still be off by 2... And don't tell me looks I don't know you but my consoles are under my TV and my cables and PSU all hidden behind the TV furniture so unless you have it on the coffee table with a outlet in the middle of your living room floor you still have zero point....

and this apply to just about any expensive electric device where you can't replace the PSU yourself easily ....

No need to worry. This will only help as the original XONE will be cheaper, so no biggie. I also don't like the design. I prefer the smooth surface of the original Xbox One to the circular vents the XONE S uses.

And an external power brick is a plus for me as well. It'd be best to have a console with a small power brick though.

oh boy.. what an idiotic post.

1. 2. The box now draws around 80W in gaming, 40W when watching blu-rays. This makes for a very simple ps design which doesn't even get lukewarm in operation (hence the S is as quiet as the old model).

3. The back says 110-240V 50/60Hz input. Go figure whether you need a different ps.....

so 3 in 3 fails for your "arguments".

1. This has nothing on what he said. The PSU can still malfunction.

2. Voltage changes don't affect heat generation. There are people who still have to deal with melt your socket off iPads...

3. If you travel a lot, you might prefer carrying a different brick around. It sucks when you're stuck dealing with locale limitations.

Onto the next point, don't berate people for not agreeing with you.

People attacked and defended every difference last gen.

"No built in WiFi? Good. M$ isn't charging me for something I don't need!"

I even saw a video saying the Xbox was crap because it was easy to take apart unlike the amazing PS3 that was difficult to open.

Good times.

Got the S, very happy with it.

Got one question for you... is it as quiet as the fat model?

good for 3point not the most common unfortunately...

still will be the one thing to fail even if it was a 10w phone charger.... Psu are the one thing that WILL fail over time.... Granted if you use it on a regular basis... Just yesterday we had a basic multi outlet with tension protection that failed and burned out for absolutely no reason.... And I guarantee you others will give overtime no matter the brand or quality....

still no real benefit to have it integrated beside some weird self satisfaction... Even if it had a 0,1% to fail why take the risk for absolutely zero practical gain.... Again I don't know where you put your audio video devices but mine have zero cable that show anyways...
