Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If Eurogamer is right, How many NXs will sell?

How many NXs will sell WW Lifetime?

0 to 10 Million 84 14.53%

10.1 - 20 Million 82 14.19%

20.1 - 30 Million 108 18.69%

30.1 - 50 Million 123 21.28%

50.1 - 75 Million 83 14.36%

75 Million + !!!! = Nintendomination 98 16.96%

Total:578

To early to say. Even if Eurogamer's report is accurate, we still don't know arguably the two most important factors; software and price.

With killer software and a cheap price tag, it could do very well.

On the other hand, if it has Wii U calibre software and pricing, it will fail.

I just dont see why the developers that support 3DS would abandon Nintendo because it uses a mobile chip.

I never said that

I am afraid the majority of third party games would be android ports and it won't see a lot of love from outside of nintendo

what does this mean then?

When you make a platform based on a mobile chip (which this rumour is saying) then I am afraid the people making mobile games will massivly put their offerings on this device, if you have ever seen the android or Ios store its flooded with horrible games.

Obviously it would take zero effort to do this, also most games from publishers like activision and EA which have been horrible on 3DS would just be even worse with mobile versions of their games, not to mention sports games like NBA 2k and stuff.

When this happens, it will just be a massive library of horrible games.

Thats the point I am making, you can see with the 3DS the 3th party support isn't huge, most good games come from nintendo, you will see see your "bravely defaults" and "Moster hunters" on this device, like you do on the current nintendo handheld market but the mayority of the games COULD be horrible ports.

That is what I am saying, which, if nintendo doesn't really do a good job of stopping will surely happen

3DS & Vita both have mobile chips, are they overrun with crappy Android/iOS ports?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

A console which is both home and portable... In others news the definitive Nintendo console.

While Nintendo during the last generation lost lot of users from DS and Wii, there are some Nintendo series stronger than ever.

Mario Kart 8 is the Mario Kart with the bigger attach rate ever, and it's not like "of course has a better attach rate, with low sales you always have big attach rate" cause has already outsold Mario Kart DD on GameCube, and is on the road for outsell Super Mario Kart on SNES. It has also a good chance of outsell Mario Kart 64... it's surely not at the crazy level of Wii/DS era, but the brand is still way stronger than years ago.

Pokémon, it's not only one of the bigger games ever, but in general, one of the bigger brand of the world, and with that recent Pokémon GO phenomenal looks unostopable... The mainly games of that series always sells at least +15 million, and no remake sold under 12 million. This is crazy. Moon/Sun gen can become one of the bigger generation of Pokémon ever, it can even surpass the fourth generation which is the bigger generation after the gold years of Pokémon (late 90 with the first and second generation).

Zelda, was never a BIG series (not as big as some other Nintendo series, or even topped by some Microsoft or Sony exclusives). But the breath of the wild hype is HUGE. it really has a chance of become the bigger Zelda game ever (i doubt it honestly though), or at least be in TOP 3 (i will be very shocked if this doesn't happen) only under Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Times.

Should we talk about Splatoon too? I don't think there is much to say... that new IP was just such a success as no one expect.
In USA and Europe is becomed one of the bigger Nintendo series already, and expecially in Japan is a phenomenal which has resurrected a death console like Wii U for an intere year, and could still sell relevant numbers if Nintendo would not undership like crazy, we got the confirmation last week which with a super expensive bundle Wii U got the second bigger week of the year. (only under the first week which was a semi-holidays week)

And obligatory mention to Fire Emblem too, which is totally resurrected from the death, the series is growing and with the new mobile game can even do better than this, it really has a chance to become as big as Zelda.

In short, Nintendo brand power is BIG. If this NX rumor is true, and NX flop, then would be a total disaster for Nintendo and should go full mobile... but i really don't see this happen. At least not with the right price.

If NX price at launch will be about $/€ 200/250, then i don't see under 50 million... but of course many guys said this with Wii U.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo.......... we'll see, that's my opinion anyway.

Vita has quite a lot, with microtransactions and everything, VITA isn't powerfull enough to run all games from android, since its very outdated, 3ds same story, the Nvidia console already RUNS all of these games, it would be litterally $0 investment, while porting to 3ds and/or vita is expensive and the VITA still has dozens of these crappy titles

Can this even be considered a handheld? I mean the point of most handheld consoles is to put them in your pocket and play them whenever. I don't think you can do this with that.

I don't know it looks like the Wii U tablet size too me but yeah, It could  probably be the 3DS size. But those removeable controllers must be really small then right? That's why I'm thinking it's Wii U tablet size. I mean the fact that it connects to the TV must mean it has to be a decent size, it can't be as small as the 3DS.

Your right, it could even be 100 inches corner to corner we just don't know yet.

Also why could a 3DS sized portable not connect to the TV?? I've seen smaller handhelds do just that.

Personally I'm thinking it's on the large size for a smartphone, like a 6 - 6 1/2 inch phablet.
