Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Gunman gets shot by Pokemon Go player he tried to rob

Some heroes don't wear capes

Thats not terror.
Thats just a poor dude robbing people at gun point.

He didnt expect a pokemon player to be carrying :p

Looks like drawing the weapon triggered a shootout in which luckily nobody was killed (a member of the Pokèmon group was shot in the stomach and the gunman was shot - both injuries seem to be non-life threatening).

I don't know about you guys, but I value my life much more highly than some money and my smartphone.

That's why it's best to not attack the mugger/whatever.  The mere act of trying to arm yourself usually escalates the situation, and assailants who may have no initial intentions for violence may open fire.

The safest thing to do is comply.  Two people have been shot and no one had to be.  It's a matter of fortune it was only two people and that no one died.

this is exactly why we shouldn't be carrying guns.  that pokemon player would have been robbed but at least he wouldn't have been shot.

Did the mugger know that he was playing Pokemon Go or just tried to rob him knowing he was distracted with his smartphone?

Drawing a weapon on the gunman wasn't very smart as anyone could have been killed (either one of the gunmen or the bystanders). But in this case, it also was legal self defense (even though this would have been better handled by the police).

People are dumb. They could haven gotten somebody killed over some money and a smartphone.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Shame he didn't kill the robber, but oh well.

Ok so general consensus on the board is, if threatened by a dangerous person, comply and do nothing to protect yourself? Just trying to get a feel of the atmosphere here.
