Selling more than tekken means that people are more interested in it being pokemon than tekken.

We dont know all the specs yet so its to early to say it would increase development cost by a lot.

Yes, many casuals already game on phone/tablets.

They get both the experience of the wiiu and 3ds.

Ummmmm... who really cares about whether or not Pokemon is being bigger than Tekken?  I don't see how that's relevant at all.

Any additional barrier you make for third party development, when you already have an unproven system, is a major problem.  You want to make things as easy as possible.

Yeah, they do.  And why will those people want an NX?

And casuals don't want either of those experiences.  Putting together two things casual gamers didn't want isn't going to suddenly want to make them want it.

"Do you like pineapples?"

"No."

"Do you like pizza?"

"No."

"Do you want a pineapple pizza?"

"HELL YEAH!"

If Nintendo wants to get casuals back, they need something different.  Not just a combination of two products that failed to get them.

Pokken is relevant because it show that people are interested in playin pokemon on a home system.

Those people would want an NX because of the games and its on the go feature

Nitendo isnt combinin two products. This is a new product with new games that can be used on aTV and on the.

Big western games sure, but we already have Sonic 2017 confirmed, and maybe Square will bring some of it's big guns over.

Yep Nintendo done fucked up, but that doesn't make it any less true. The NES/SNES days where they had all the third party by default are long gone. Now they'd have to work for it, and a powerful console alone isn't even half the battle, as Wii U didn't even get PS3/360 ports. To be known for third party games they would need to go out of their way making games that appeal to the same audiences third party games do like Sony and Microsoft to ensure that they have people who'll buy these games on their platform. Needless to say, that's never gonna happen, so Nintendo will never again be known for having third party (unless Sony/Microsoft explode). Definitely not ideal, but not the end of the world either. Nintendo just has to accept that reality and roll with it.

Why though? I mean, if you just want third party, there's already plenty of systems for that, I don't see why Nintendo absolutely has to be yet another.

Ive seen quite a few people complain about Nintendo not making a console that will get 3rd party support. I would like to think that these are all people who are for Nintendo going 3rd party because what they are asking for is basically a PS4 with Nintendo games.

And yeah Nintendo cant just make a PS4 and magically start recieving the same 3rd party support.

Yeah I'm with you. If you want third party games you have at least three options: PC, XOne, and PS4, all of which have largely redundant libraries. If you want Nintendo games you can always invest in Nintendo's hardware. I'm just not a believer in the proposition that Nintendo needs cutting-edge hardware. Nintendo has demonstrated time and again it neither needs nor wants such hardware for its games. Third-party publishers might demand high-end specs but remember they accept none of the risk for its research and development, and could abandon Nintendo at any time.

You're right, my bad. What I mean by that is sure the NX will probably get Japan support as in the usual games like Monster Hunter, Yokai Watch, etc, etc but aside from the ones you can expect like that it will be Wii U level again where it is missing all the big third party releases etc. I don't see Battlefield 1 releasing on it or anything like that.

And I don't like the type of thinking of "Well PS and Xbox are more known for third party games" because once again that is Nintendo's own fault as they always mess something up and give developers a reason not to support their systems.  Nintendo could have a console where it is known for them to get third party support as well, but it won't be the NX because once again they're going to be severely underpowered.

We'll just have to see how this plays out. (If it's true, I mean. It could all be completely wrong, we'll just have to see when Nintendo finally reveals the NX themselves). I hope the best for Nintendo, but i'm just truly dissapointed in this if it ends up being true.

Sonic would qualify under the "games to expect" from third parties on a Nintendo console since it's almost non existend that a Sonic game skips a Nintendo console. (Although Sonic Generations wasn't on the Wii but was on the 3DS).

I guess it's just something we're going to have to agree to disagree on then honestly. I just don't like the thinking that Nintendo could never pull off a system that had everything, because they could it's just that they always manage to fuck something up.

Sort of like the last part of your post, sure Nintendo doesn't HAVE to, but they should and could if they wanted to. You're essentially saying "Why should Nintendo have third party games on their system when you can get third party games on other systems", more games on one console is never a bad thing and it would put an end to the whole "Buying a Nintendo system to only get Nintendo games" thing that Nintendo seems to be stuck in right now too.

How on earth do you equate anyone wanting Nintendo to get good third party support on their systems to anyone all of a sudden wanting Nintendo to go third party? That makes no sense and is one of the biggest reaches in logic I have ever seen.

I want to one day see a Nintendo console where you can get all games, first party and third party alike and not just have it be another "buying a Nintendo system where you can only buy Nintendo games for it". And sure, even if Nintendo did make a PS4 like system of course they wouldn't just automatically start getting ALL or the same third party support, but it would be a damn good start to improving it.

How is that a dream? You can expect the s8 and iPhone 7s to compete with this if it's Wii u level of power graphically, easily

The 3DS, which is now $80 dollars for its cheapest model, is tracking at less than half of what the DS did.  Again, what makes you think that the casual audience cares about playing Nintendo's games on the go? Because they have been showing with their dollars for the past 5 years that they don't.
