I just don't add games to my backloggery anymore. If I have more than 20 I start deleting some of them.

I've become pretty picky to which games I add to my backlog. On one hand I want to beat all my games but I like to collect games, but I don't really want to force myself to play through some dreadful games or random Steam games I get from bundles so I just don't add those anymore.

OT: Main games trying to get through now are TMS #FE, FF XII and CoD: World at War. RPGs are massive time sinks so I can only afford to play a few at a time, while WaW is the token game to break up the pace.

I'm trying to focus on finishing games from PS3 and 360, since I rarely play them compared to Nintendo systems.

Focusing on finishing Atelier games, right now on Ayesha which is the only one left, other games like Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Solid 2, Ni No Kuni and Eternal Sonata are my priorities as well right now.

Exactly! Being picky is the key. Steam bundles usually have a lot of games you are never going to play anyway so why add them?

Saves you the stress for sure, I got a bunch of games in my library that I have no idea when I got them or why, bunch of weird games that is almost worthy of it's own thread.

Ola,

My name is Saeko,

I just cannot stop buy game i like, i played and finished like 8 ps4 games and have like 20 more to play already.

Same on Steam, i have like 60+ games to play ^^

Some time i stick with same game for over 6 month like Crusader kings 2 and still continue to buy other game.

I already have pre-order 2 more ps4 games plus   no man sky & civilization 6 on steam :p

Barney (not in real life),

Often times I buy dozens of old games for future playthrough, yet never play them. While its relatively cheap, having 30 Xbox 360 games in backlog is turning into a disaster.

I have 4 XB1 games pre-ordered, and I don't have the time to play them either. Please help me, as I keep throwing money down the drain.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Hi, I am Seth.  I have a problem.  My problem is having too many backlogged games.  I've bought too many on sales or a few years after release on sale new on Amazon,  Steam Summer and Winter Sales, Nindie Humble Bundles and other Humble Bundles and many more...

So I've decided to try to resist any temptation to buy any new games till I tackle this problem of mine.  I know there are others out there like me that start playing a game then get distracted from finishing that game due to a new game.  Together we can be strong enough to hold firm and start knocking out our backlogged games!

So please join me and discuss the current games you are trying to beat.  Do whatever it takes to finish these games...  Gamefaqs, videos, asking for help in this thread, dare I say cheating (I did for the English classes on Bully recently)...

You starting this thread was genious.  I'll be back soon to publicly bare all my share.

I don't have a notable backlog, so I'll try to give you guys a few tips.

1. Raise your quality standards for games that you have yet to buy - The majority of the games that are deemed good aren't great, so you aren't missing out by skipping them. If you have a few years of gaming experience, you should already know which kinds of games you like best, so only in those genres you should go beyond the top-of-the-line games.

2. Raise your quality standards for games that you own, but have yet to play - This will help to clear your existing backlog faster. A lot of games do not age well, so even if you got around to them eventually, you would be wasting your time. Compile a list of your backlog games and then scratch everything that isn't exceptionally good.

3. Don't see it as your duty to finish games - This is once again a point about quality standards because that's what it really is all about. If you start a game and then don't like it, by all means just quit. When I read posts from, say, Veknoid_Outcast that are about how he is forcing himself through garbage like Puppeteer, I want to slap him because there needs some sense beat into him.

Ultimately, you'll end up buying and playing fewer games, but you'll enjoy the time more and save money. There's no reason why you should play every half-decent clone of concepts that have proved to work. Be more picky about what you play.

Good points, all. I've started buying fewer and fewer games after wising up a bit. And I've been selling off unplayed games on eBay.

But it's so hard for me to stop playing a game once I've started. Even Puppeteer, which was, as you say, awful.

But I'm mostly buying classics/games I've always wanted. My problem is online multiplayer games. They shift my focus, and I keep on buying games even if I havent finished others, so it adds up.

Also, leaving games unfinished fills me with anxiety.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
